2001 Jason Richardson 2000 Mike Miller 1999 Jonathan Bender 1998 Vince Carter 1997 Tony Battie 1996 Ray Allen 1995 Kevin Garnett 1994 Juwan Howard 1993 Isaiah Thomas 1992 LaPhonso Ellis 1991 Steve Smith 1990 Kendall Gill I just went to look up draft histories at http://www.nbadraft.net out of curiousity and was pretty impressed with what was taken with the fifth pick. Most of those guys are either all-stars or above-average solid players. I think it's really great that we have at least the fifth pick and it really all comes down to doing good scouting of the players and being able to predict good talent. If those things are done well, we should come out of the draft with some good talent. Yeah, trades are always an option, but depending on who we pick, the player we choose very well might be worth keeping. It's nice to have some practice picking good players at lower draft numbers so that hopefully when you get a high draft number, like five, you can really take advantage of it. Crossing my fingers.
I suppose you mean Isaiah Rider, or JR "The Plague" Rider. Ya those picks are pretty pimp-pressive, no doubt.
2001 Jason Richardson - yes 2000 Mike Miller - yes 1999 Jonathan Bender - yes 1998 Vince Carter - yes 1997 Tony Battie - expect more 1996 Ray Allen - yes 1995 Kevin Garnett - HELL YES 1994 Juwan Howard - yes 1993 Isaiah Rider - expect more 1992 LaPhonso Ellis - expect more 1991 Steve Smith - yes 1990 Kendall Gill - yes 75%. Not bad. Not bad at all.
But remember, we could have as low as the 7th pick if two teams leap-frog us into the top 3 ... Those former top 5 picks are sure impressive, though.
I think we could conceivably have as low as the 8th spot, if 3 teams below us all win the top 3 picks.
RL - I think you already know theres not much chance that all 3 of the worst records would get totally "shutout" of the Top 3. But in case that very rare scenario would occur, here's a list of #8's: 2001: Sagana Diop 2000: Jamal Crawford 1999: Andre Miller 1998: Larry Hughes 1997: Adonal Foyle 1996: Kerry Kittles 1995: Shawn Respert 1994: Brian Grant 1993: Vin Baker 1992: Todd Day

Dude blew out his knees multiple times. I don't think you can 'expect' for injuries. Until his first major injury, he was well worth the #5 pick.
