Never thought Sweden was this consistent.

That win against Italy was not a fluke.

Come on Telemundo; this AM James Tahhan is show repeatedly with the mocking slant eyes racial gesture. Way out of bounds...

I got Poland and Lewandowski getting that win and goal today vs Japan! Just need Colombia and Senegal to pull off a good draw so they can both advance.

So we gotta have our Latino brethren explain this to us because it's a problem. We saw it with Maradona in the first match with some asian fans. We saw it with Gurriel of the Astros. I know it's something ingrained in the culture and is supposed to be fun or lighthearted from what we've heard but c'mon now, tv personalities doing it on a tv show? Not cool

Who are we cheering for today? Personally, I like the idea of Senegal and Japan going through. I'm not expecting much from Belgium/England.

Colombia. I'd like to see Poland win a game too.

Wonder if this is having any meaningful effect on the WC watching pub crowds...

Beer is being rationed in the United Kingdom because of a shortage of carbon dioxide.

Booker, a major UK wholesaler owned by Tesco (TSCDY), has confirmed that it's limiting customers such as bars and grocers to 10 cases of beer (300 cans) per brand a day, the most dramatic consequence to date of a shortage that also threatens food production across Europe.

So Senegal out because of the fairplay ranking. That's rude, really rude. Happy for Japan, even though they stopped playing in the last ten minutes, which shouldn't be rewared, especially since they would've been out with one goal by Senegal. But Senegal did the same thing when they heard Japan was down 0-1.

It’s seen as light hearted like calling every Asian no matter the country “chinito”

It’s not looked at as an insult. Players even accept the nickname like El Chino David Silva.

Political correctness like lots of things take time to sweep across cultures.

Yep. We went through this during the World Series. Latin cultures (except maybe Panama?) just do not see it as offensive.

Not sure who to be more angry at. Idrissa Gueye for deciding "You know what...imma just chill on this corner as i defend the post while y'all go ahead and try to stop the goal. Senegal and their wastefulness in front of goal today (Morocco like), Lewandowski for missing the chance to get a goal vs Japan, Japan and Poland for making their match a farce in the final few minutes or FIFA for using the fair play rule. Argh!

Yeah I know. Like Buck said, ...we went through it with Gurriel. They just don't see it as offensive but if the people they do it to see it as offensive then they might want to consider that.
And yeah I know latina chicks who have nicknames like "China" etc cos they look a bit asian.
Hopefully at some point soon most in the culture and the various latin countries will understand it's light hearted to them but not to Asian folk and not acceptable.

People always talk about our use of the chancla and sexualize our women. They joke about our uncles being mechanics and us doing yard work on the side.

Doesn't bother us one bit. At least not me.

Don't ask me (I'm Latino) because I would never do such a thing. Ask them, they did it and know they don't speak for me or "Latinos" all over the world.

Why are you asking for sweeping changes of "Latin People's" perceptions and opinions? You on the same mission to stop America's Hollywood and "White America" from portraying Latinos, especially Mexicans, as corrupt, vicious criminals, drug lords, poor illegal immigrants, the help, etc... I mean there are 200 million + Mexicans and descendants in the world, not all of them are drug lords, illegals, the help, etc.. There are doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc...

I would change myself before asking others to change.
