damn, how far has Texas dropped? from national contention to celebrating their heads off for barely pulling out a win in the freaking TOSTITOS FIESTA bowl.. against who? wait for it, mediocre Big 10 team..

I'm going to be classy this time and give credit where it's due:

I would like to congratulate the refs for pulling out a great win for UT.. the 2 freebie touchdowns you granted this ugly orange-wearing team has saved it from being nationally ridiculed and humiliated..

If OSU got the two point conversion that puts them at 23 pts. UT with the touchdown and conversion is at 24 so a field goal by OSU still wins it. UT would win with a touchdown either way but my guess of why go for the two was Tressell wanted to make sure against Texas's offense that if he could keep them out of the endzone that UT would need at least two field goals to tie. At the same time if they don't get the two at least they could come back and tie on with a field goal on a UT touchdown.

As I said it was of marginal benefit but also minimum cost so not a stupid call on the part of Tressell.

do you even watch college football or just spit hate at Rice's lifelong Daddy, AKA THE University of Texas Longhorns?

USC is losing too many defensive players.....this pathetic assumption is worse than King Cheetah's idiotic claim that Utah should be the National Champions.

    HUH?

    Getting a 2 point conversion is about 50%....getting a 1pt conversion is over 95%.....

So, take the 1, and get the 5 point lead....that way you force UT to go for 2 if they score, or if they only go for the 1 pt conversion you are still within 2...and a FG wins it.

    It was a DUMB...call.....

While obviously half-serious, I don't think his claim was "idiotic." I don't see why Utah shouldn't have an argument along with USC and Texas for the National Championship.

This was an exciting game and Texas clearly showed they were the more talented team. The problem is though if UT wants a share of the national championship or to even finish two in the nation they needed a blowout.

If OU and UF are close or they will finish one and two. If its a blowout by OU then UT might still finish two. If its a blowout by UF then UT still might not finish two.

It depends. It's definately more debatable if OU wins...since UT beat them.

If Florida loses, they will not be #2.

I'm not a fan of bigtexxx (I actually hate him quite a lot), but UT fanboys bashing Rice for not having a good football program is just laughable.. Rice doesn't need a good football program to attract student, its academic superiority (it's by far the #1 university in the entire south) is what makes Rice what it is.. and last time I checked, it's the academics that you go to college for, not football :(

dude, King Cheetah is trying to make a case for Utah being in the NC game over Texas.....why? because they beat Alabama? talk about someone who pays little to zero attention to CFB.

Utah has absolutely ZERO business in the NC game, thats why it's a uber-fail.

I'm sick of pathetic assumptions on MOV........when has Mack Brown ever ran up a score? he does what it takes to win a game, and last I checked he has more wins over the last ten years than any other coach in the game.

haha, I love Mack. Coaches are required to vote the winner of the BCS title game the number 1 team in the country. Way to talk tough though.

you'd have a case if we were watching the national spelling bee, but were not, it's college football, which means Rice=fail.

why? because they walked through the MAC and beat up Alabama? have you watched Alabama eek through the SEC all year long? LSU? Arkansas? now it matters when Texas lays it all out to do whatever it takes to beat a dam good Ohio State team? funny.

I am still mad Texas wasn't in the national championship, but glad to see we pulled out the W. As great of a game as it was, it meant very little besides bragging rights.

The season exceeded everyones expectations and can't wait to see what we can do next year.
