AUS/ARG - Aussies edge out Argentina 79-78 NOVI SAD (FIBA U19 World Championship) - Tournament star Andrew Oglivy experienced the highs and lows of basketball as reigning champions Australia were made to sweat in a 79-78 win over Argentina. The unbeaten FIBA U19 World Championship title-holders were cruising heading into the final period of their eighth-final match, but hit a scoring drought and saw their lead cut to just a single point in the final seconds. Ogilvy, who poured in 27 points and 12 rebounds in the 135-79 rout of Korea on Monday, notched up another double-double here with 18 points and 12 rebounds. However the tournament top-scorer - one of eight Aussie players from the highly-rated Australian Institute of Sport - also turned the ball over 10 times and his errors contributed to Argentina getting within spitting distance of forcing overtime. For most of the match, Australia had never looked like losing after taking the lead three minutes into the game, although their winning margin could have been better if they had improved their shooting from outside the arc. Aside from 24 turnovers, their six from 23 (26%) three-pointer record was the only weak point as they hit over 70% accuracy in shots from two-point range and the charity stripe. Argentina had an 81.8% (9/11) free-throw record and one such score from Leandro Cecchi pulled them back within seven points just before half-time. An 11-2 scoring burst in the third period took Australia's lead back out to 19 points but they lost their scoring touch in the final period, going over four minutes without a basket. This allowed Argentina to hit an 28-10 run of their own to narrow the deficit to just two points with 50 seconds on the clock. Nicolas Aguirre was the main threat in this period with 12 points, and he finished top-scorer for the losers with 16 overall. In the final seconds Ben Dowdell's free-throw was countered by Diego Gerbaudo's jump shot to narrow the gap to one point. But there was not enough time to get level, meaning Facundo Pinero was left to rue his missed three-pointer 24 seconds from the end. http://www.serbia2007.fiba.com/page...ews/p/newsid/20714/FE_news_lateNews_arti.html
