Very well said. I don't think Amare will ever make it back to what he was. I can still remember the 2005 Spurs WCF series where he just shredded Duncan. That Amare is probably gone forever.
now i am not saying i missed it, but i did not hear that scola won the FIBA Americas MVP? is there such an award? now if you guys believe he won the mvp when they handed him the trophy, he was representing the team as the captain to receive the 2nd place trophy. but if it was announced that he won mvp, then i admit i missed that part.
Congratulatons! Scola. Congratulatons! Morey. and thanks Lindsy..Rox traded Lindsy and V-Span for Scola.
I don't see the problem in the losing team having the MVP, its called the Most Valueable Player award.. not the 'Who has the best numbers award' Hands Down Scola was more valuable to his team then Camello,Kidd, or even Lebron was to us. Jerry West won the Finals MVP even though his team lost and for further proof thats exactly why there is so much hate towards Dirk for winning the MVP last year.. Nash is clearly more Valuable to the Suns then Dirk is to the Mavs. Of course Kobe is more valuable to his team then anyone else but his team simply sucked ass... If your team makes it to the end, or close to the end and its clear that so-and-so player was wayy more valuable to his team then players on the other team I vote that the guy who was more valuable should get the most valuable trophy award. And to the dumbass who went on the rant about America also means U.S. and Argentina get a life... Two teams.. Ones called Argentina the other ones called the United States of America... If someone says they hope America loses it's pretty obvious, especially since we are talking countries and not continents? Which other country in America has the word America in it's name? Thus when someone is talking countries and says America it's pretty obvious he is talking about the U.S.A since A stands for America and no other country in the two continents can say that.. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the A in Argentina stands for an 'A' or 'ah'.. I'm no history Buff though, just someone with common sense EDITED TO FIX A FEW ANNOYING MISTYPES, OTHER MISTYPES WERE LEFT SO I COULD HERE A FEW OF YOU b**** ABOUT IT AND CALL ME DUMB SINCE SOME OF YOU ARE PICKY WHEN IT COMES TO TYPED WORDS ON A MESSAGE BOARD... They were also left so I can read your comments and get a good laugh later on. K THANKS
I guess most of it depends on how you define MVP. If being the most outstanding player has much to do with it, Scola had no business getting the award. Even though they made the final game, the fact Argentina was beaten twice and got smoked badly by Team USA makes the award seem strange. It wasn't as if the USA didn't have a couple of worthy candidates. If your criterion is to basically limit the MVP candidates to the two final teams and then say it's the player who means the most to his team, then you can rationalize Scola.
From an NBA perspective, Scola getting MVP honors is justifiable. Scola was Nash to that Brazilian team.
Most valueable player. you take scola out of the Argentinian team and they would be trash. he won this award because he more then anyother player in this tourny controlled the chances of he's team and he deliverd time after time. he got a virtuall C argentianian team to the final.
lol I just got home and I missed the game... I work on weekends. Looking at the result, I'm happy it was a close game Scola MVP? All of a sudden I'm reading the posts and seems Scola is the second coming of Christ.
I think you are getting it wrong....MVP goes to the player that BRINGS success to his team!!! If you take away Scola Argentina wouldn't have qualified for the Olympics. You could say then why not Barbosa from Brazil?..., the reason being he neither carried nor brought success to his team, whereas Scola did both….that's the ingredients for a MVP type player….IMHO!
http://doblemblog.com/ "20 members of the media, 10 being from the E.E.UU, voted Luis Scola as the tournament's most valuable player. A great accomplishment for "luifa" before he takes on the nba by storm. After the game, Luis rented a limo for all 16 players plus the coaching staff and took them out to eat to nearest Argentine Restaurant." Now That's a leader!
