"it’s almost as if there’s a concerted effort to allow Doncic to shine because it’s rigged just like the NBA. If opposing coaches actually wanted to stop Luka they’d trap him all game and live with scrubs beating them but they don’t because the goal is to promote the game internationally"
if they would trap him he would just pass for open shot 10/10. Hes fat 6'8 you are not going to bully him with Campazzo and 50 year old Scola
Euro teams were always good at shooting threes. Because it is really ****ing hard to get into the paint and they are forced to shoot threes
No. We wish lmao The good 3 point shooting schools , no matter the generation are No.1 Lithuania No.2 South Slavs(esp Croats) These are the jumpshooting teams always. Decade in and out. Because they always have put emphasis on teaching kids shooting. The other countries depend on the current players. It is not that hard to drive unless you have some Rudy Gobert DPOY and best rim protector in the world waiting for you under the rim.
so what? we saw KD miss a wide open 3pters 2 times in a row in the clutch and usa champions missing 4 times in a row in clutch you live with other guys beating you and you bet on them not being able to hit their shots consistently... trap him at the halfcourt and see if they have enough playmakers and shotmakers to pull it off...perhaps its a better bet then letting him do whatever he wishes...
there's basically two schools. Let superstar get his and everyone else nothing or vice versa. If one doesn't work everybody says they should've tried the other As a Rockets fan you should know that. Argentina bet 22 year old Fatboy can't win against them by himself... and they were ****ing wrong lol
It's definitely the color of the ball... and the magnet too. Doncic would have averaged 50 points a game in the NBA if only they used the FIBA ball.
Not trying to cape for the players, BUUUT People saying the way the ball feels and the splashy rims shouldn't affect the way someone plays probably doesn't hoop. Playing with a different ball than the one you are accustomed too is not great, especially now that the USA no longer has the talent advantage.
That doesn't explain why non-American players who have been playing in the NBA for years aren't bothered by the ball. And it doesn't explain why Team USA in the past was not affected by it. I played pick up hoop and yes, different ball feels differently. But these aren't playground balls. Official balls are supposed to be made as identical as possible. Besides, if they knew that the ball would affect their shooting, they should have practiced with FIBA balls, which I am sure they did.
because they have been playing with it many times before? the fact that they didnt complain before doesnt mean they werent affected by it. I clearly remember tho, Jason Tatum complaining about the ball at world cup 2 years ago. And it was very encouraging to me because i had similar troubles at that time and still have to this day...
It definitely explains why players like Luka, Patty Mills, everyone from Spain, Luis Scola turn into gods on the international stage; they grew up playing with FIBA balls. Rockets legend, Vassilis Spanoulis is a Euro league god with a FIBA ball. International players come over here and there is a dip.. Much like the Americans take a dip when they switch to FIBA balls Team USA was always affected by the FIBA balls except they were just more talented than everyone else it didn't matter. Now that the talent is much closer it matters now.
Yeah, but the players who usually complain about the balls or rims are always dismissed by the other players. And the US no longer has the talent advantage? Whaaaa??? I think we are losing the intangibles battle. That is what is closing the still massive talent gap.
The talent advantage is not so overwhelming they can count on just talent alone to win. when we're talking about IntangABILITY in Olympic basketball conversation you know you're in trouble. Draymond Green is walking intangibles and this ninja is awful, lol The Americans, when they care about winning a medal, should be able to field a team that doesn't need a coach. THIS Olympic team does not have the talent advantage and Pop out here running spurs sets, lol
his game is predicated on having the support of officials, people rightly predicted he would have zero impact on the game when not on warriors, let alone when not in NBA
Except that Luka also plays like god in the NBA. So do other great international players in the NBA. Honestly, if the ball does affect how they play, it's mostly mental. It just shows you these guys are mentally weak, lack of confidence. The Americans are still miles ahead of other countries in terms of talent. Maybe the NBA is creating a breed of basketball players who don't know how to compete on the international stage.
only thing affecting team USA's shooting is FIBA doesnt have magnets in their rims. suck it up buttercups
How weird does it got to be for Booker to be teammates with the guys who just ate his heart in the finals just 1 week out lol
