Ezeli only played 770 minutes during the season. 1) So his advanced stats come from a small sample size. Usually advanced stats skew higher for smaller sample sizes. 2) He mainly played on the 2nd unit on a team that was #1 in MOV so he played lots of garbage time minutes against scrubs. 3) Unless you're the Knicks and Lakers or teams with specific needs... Trust that most teams are better talent evaluators than 99% of us armchair experts.
770 minutes isn't a ton, but it isn't a particularly small sample either. omer asik played 971 minutes the season before he signed with houston. he got a big contract because his per minute stats were good. and he actually slightly increase his per minute stats in houston his first year even though he played way more minutes. true, could probably knock his production down a little, but scrubs have been getting way more than 7.5M this offseason. i don't think most people are saying festus is great, just wondering how he couldn't get half of what other guys who played limited minutes are getting. maybe it was injuries, but that didn't stop the rockets from handing out 20M to ryan anderson or 13M to gordon. i would say we've seen enough terrible contracts over the years to think people like us can at least wonder what some gm's are doing. i mean questioning gm's is all we've done for the past week.
Did Festus hurt you in some way? Were you saying the same things about his play last season and during the finals last year?
It's because this year is a tank season and handing over $80million to a guy was just to cover for the tanking... Harden is not even trying to keep in shape.. It's over for the Harden Era before it transpired. He will probably be traded before his contract expires..
He hasn't hurt me at all. Before this season I said he was terrible. He's had good moments on some occasions but it doesn't change what he is.
One of my thoughts as well. Really surprised at Ezeli's contract. And a TEAM OPTION on the 2nd year to boot!
