The Cavs made two giant mistakes that killed their chances at winning a championship: Going brain-dead and allowing Boozer to walk and signing Larry Hughes to that huge contract when they had a bunch of cap room. If either of these didn't happen (especially the Hughes mistake), I think LeBron would have won a championship by now.
I agree. I never understood hughes and not tendering boozer. If I was them, I would make a strong push for Kaman or Al Jefferson and get rid of Jamison. They shouldn't have downplayed Jackson either. Jackson would've been huge for them against the celtics. They tried to play him short and talked about if james leaves he can be bought out for 70 cents on the dollar.
Boo$er hosed the team like a dirty snake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Boozer#Free_agency_controversy
I think that one single move (or non-move depending on who you ask) changed the course of history for the Cavaliers and LeBron.
Here is the funniest thing about this thing THE CAVS WERE TRYING TO SKIRT THE RULES!!! They thought they had a *WINK*WINK* deal with Boozer and GOT BURNED This is every bit has foul as what Minnesota did with Joe Smith Which they lost 5 draft picks for . . . . . IMO had the deal gone down like it was suppose to . . . . LeBron should not be a CAV because they should have lost 5 drafts too Rocket River
They weren't trying to make a "wink wink" deal, they were convinced that Boozer was performing at a higher level and had a handshake agreement for a 6 year contract. That's not exactly the same level as giving Joe Smith a minimum 1 year deal. Besides if even if Stern took away 5 draftpicks it wouldn't have mattered. Have you seen Ferry's draft record? Whatever would they do without eyenga?!? If Boozer had stayed Cleveland LBJ might have had a ring by now. Z, Boozer, LBJ and Mo Williams would like a solid starting 4.
I'm sorry. Can you delve a little deeper into the explaination. Explain the fine line of difference. . . The only one I can think of is Cleveland wasn't stupid enough to put it on paper. Rocket River
The crooks got fleeced by a slicker crook. I have no sympathy for the Cavs. But that doesn't make what Boozer did right.
We shouldn't believe everything the media feeds us. They are portraying the ferry and brown firing as if the two were the most innocent people on earth who were persecuted by the team owner and the franchise player teaming up. Its a business and the buck has to stop somewhere. a dispassionate and objective review of the decisions danny ferry made and the system mike brown has built show there are a lot of weaknesses that led to the team's failure. The list of former players becoming general managers and failing on the job continues to grow. This seems to be the general rule now with a few exceptions.
