Play the anthem at the DMV or court or something, why are we still doing it at sporting events for? She still sang it better'n y'all could have so whatever.
Rehearsal Footage Shows Fergie Unsure About "Star-Spangled Banner" Rendition Before Disastrous Performance
Just watched it. Yeah, it was bad, but after seeing all the internet reactions last night and this morning...I was expecting even worse. For the most part it was just...bizarre and different. Fergie putting her own weird spin on it. I don't want this kind of take on the national anthem to become a trend among other singers.
I don't have any opinion on her performance, but at first I thought she was Barbara Streisand. Then I though maybe Barbara Streisand had a daughter who was a singer too. And now I finally know who it actually was.
Fergie was a little extra, and the constant finger flickering didn't help, but honestly I don't see a disaster.
This has to be grounds for expatriation. I am extremely confident that 99 out of 100 random people off the streets would do a better rendition than this. At least they would give it the respect it deserves and not make it their play-thing. It's like the anthem was a toy and Fergie was Sid from "Toy Story." As to the question is this the worst rendition ever? I say yes, easily. Here's what people are forgetting....yes Roseanne and Carl Lewis were completely awful and lacking any musicality but Fergie is supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL SINGER. That's why she is famous. Now I see why all the Black Eyed Peas songs were just chants lacking any melody.
I have always liked it too. Musically, when they are delivered as written, both "O Canada" and "The Star Spangled Banner" are beautiful tunes.
I didn't say vocalist, but when you look her up on Wiki it says "Fergie (singer)" at the top. It is what it is. That's how she got famous.
Right after this she does some sort of weird sound and he starts laughing. Let me say this in her defense. If that wasn't the Star Spangled Banner it would have been just another singer who sounds like they are a cross between a prostitute and a mesothelioma commercial. It's only THAT BAD because it's the national anthem.
