Talk about making assumptions about a person.

this incident kinda makes me more appreciate our team.

though we havent had the success on the court (to get outta the 1st round yet), we as fans are really blessed with the group of guys we have ... there arent any selfish thugs or anything ... just hard workers who want to win and do so as a team.

i've said it before but thank God that Landry's okay.

I love Landry to death and he absolutely was the VICTIM ...not to be blamed.

All that said, the area where Landry was shot is a wasteland of nothing but warehouses and abandoned buildings. There are NO restuarants in the area esp. that are open at 2am. Kim Son and Drexler's aren't too far away ...but they aren't open that late. He never mentioned specifically where he was going.

The car side swipped Landry twice ...which indicates there was a chase. If they were chasing him, it seems odd that it was a random event.

Why has there been so little info about the woman that was in his car? Landry took off running and left her behind?

I'm sorry but the story -- as told -- doesn't pass the sniff test. Personally, I think he was buying weed and something went wrong. If he was, that doesn't change my opinion of Landry. He's not a THUG just because he buys weed or 9/10ths of our citizens are also thugs. He's a great guy and grateful for him and his family that he escaped without worse injuries. But I'm fairly certain there is a little more to this story.

Ummm, don't you think an NBA basketball player might have a better way of getting weed than cruising the streets of Houston at 2:30 AM in a sketchy part of town?

I thought NBA had random drug tests during the season and the players won't be caught dead using weed during the season??

I don't think Landry was doing that. He could have been going to a fast food place that he knows is open at that time.

Drexler's been closed for awhile. Rightfully so, I heard it was gross.

I like Doug Gotlieb's (sp) show, i'm disappointed if he tried to push that angle. At least wait to hear more info before you start speculating

Like what? You think NBA players have some sort of special black market? Maybe "www.craigslist.com/nbaplayersonlythatwantweed". lol.

Ask Michael Vic about doing stupid things regarding weed.

I have no idea if he was trying to score a bag. I'm just saying, the story seems a little fishy. I'm NOT saying that it matters or that he deserved to be shot. ...just sayin that I doubt he's a pure angle that everybody is portraying his as. btw, I'm not either. Just cause you aren't an angle doesn't mean you are a bad person. There are many shades of grey between mother Theresa and satin.

Earlier poster was right. There is a Jack's a few blocks from there and if he lives around there, it jives. Jack's is a great place for late night food.

As for the car hitting him, there are cowards out there that operate like that.

Yes since all hispanic criminals must be illegal

How about everyone be happy that Landry escaped with his life and suffered only a minor injury. No point in making assumptions as to what he was doing or why he was doing it.

Sorta. Drive through that area one day and you'll see what I mean. I only live 3 miles away and drive all over the place in general vacinity. I have NEVER found the occasion to drive thru there esp at 3am. I've done it once or twice and got the hell out asap.

He lives close but that particular area is a wasteland.

Checked their website ...closest one is probably by UH. That's a few miles and would be fast to get on the freeway. The freeway entrance is several blocks north of where he was. If he lives in midtown, it doesn't make sense that he'd be in that particular spot.

    THAT was another thought. PLAUSIBLE.

    Agreed.

    props to Feigen...
It's unfortunate that when something like this happens all people can think about is 'why is he out so late' or 'why is he in that neighborhood'. He's a young man who shouldn't feel guilty for being out late and he shouldn't have to explain how this wasn't his fault.

Never said he should feel guilty or suggested it was his fault.

It ain't my business and if I were him, I'd keep it to myself too.

That said, people talk ...but I'm done with this topic. Even if he was involved in anything less than Church donations and helping the elderly cross the street, he didn't deserve to get shot so it isn't worth dwelling on. I'm glad he's safe and I'll leave it at that.

Don't the words "illegal" and "criminal" have very similar connotations?

This is an ironic post. :D

Thats what the internet is all about. After all, you can come to some Freudian type of conclusion about a poster simply based on his username. Surely an article written and some interviews discussed by someone can get a better conclusion than that?

"In other words, he wanted to know if Carl was some kind of thug that had it coming.

He is not a thug. He is a young guy, a good guy, that plays basketball for a living and on occasion, gets hungry and goes to get food."
