He basically delivered Harden, and Chris Paul wanted to get out of the 2nd round so he accepted the trade. McHale and the Houston legend Cs and players (Moses, Hakeem, Big E, Yao, Calvin......) and recruiters like Parsons brought Dwert. Dwert was unhappy in LA, D'Antoni was there too and actually sort of played the part in him leaving as well. I do not think they could have swayed Howard with Morey alone. And both Dwight and Chris Paul wanted something from the Rockets, to elevate them to a championship because both were on the decline and knew it.
I can't accept they would alienate their core players just to convince a small group of people like us in an undeservedly football crazy town. It's these same players that have to overperform in order to sell tickets throughout the season. Tilman prob followed Les' advice to only go after big fish and some idiot started leaking when Harden gave signals like he did w/ CP3. Who knows...with tampering rules, signals are the only way to communicate, so the FO started thinking it was 70-90% rather than just stripclub talk reeking with booze, weed, and sweaty titty.
Maybe we are waiting on Kawhi too to truly decide on who to sign? Might go harder for an impactful near all-star / swing for the fences.
