Amen already met with Rox. Rox even leaked a picture of Amen's vert jump. Not sure about other prospects though.
I mean you're preaching to the choir lol. Like I said it's a red flag to me he worked hard for 2 yrs still has a terrible shot at least his bro improved.
Yeah, just thought I'd make mention of it in case someone thought being able to jump high meant they were good at basketball. You know, for the new guys.
The players selected 20th in the past 15 drafts suggest this pick isn't so underrated. Alexis Ajinca Eric Maynor James Anderson Evan Fournier Donatas Motiejunas! Tony Snell Bruno Caboclo Delon Wright Caris Levert Harry Giles Josh Okogie Matisse Thybulle Precious Achiuwa Jalen Johnson Malaki Branham
The odds are pretty low at that point in the draft, but you can still find some good players. For example, the 21st overall pick had some starting-caliber players, like Tyrese Maxey, Darren Collison, Rockets legend Ryan Anderson, Rajon Rondo. Odds of getting a star player are extremely low, but you can find a starter if you draft well and have a little luck.
Bilal went to the moon. He was projected 15-19th pick now everybody wants him. That was my 20th pick.
There are a lot of players I like at least a little in the 11-25 range, so I'm guessing somebody will drop. Hope the Rockets are going to be flexible and really do their homework on everyone.
Besides possible droppers there's honestly a lot of promising wings in the 20 range. Guys like Prosper, Leonard Miller, Jett Howard etc Rox should be able to snag someone good.
Forgot Dereck Lively as well, imo he would prob be a nice get at 20 given the success of Walker Kessler. Dude only scored 5 ppg but had 66% TS and 65% FG, his low pts scored is due to low possessions. Sengun is great as a starter but it would be nice if we CA. Get a defensive replacement to give opponents a diff look when he sits down.
Skip to around 33:25 unless you want to hear NBA Finals talk. They talk about about Bilal Coulibaly, but also go into some draft philosophy stuff that I thought was interesting. The gist is that if you're projected as a role player/off-ball player, you *have* to be able to shoot *and* play defense/provide good size. BBIQ/"feel" can also be a big plus (big point guards can succeed as wings/off-ball guys even if shooting isn't great). Sam kinda threw some shade on Cason Wallace (due to size), though I think both of them want him to do well. Keyonte George also not very high on either board due to his size I think. Also, they don't understand the narrative of Ausar being a good shooter and/or a drastically better shooter than Amen. Guess I'm just sharing that because I think it's bizarre too. As for Amen, they go through a very realistic scenario where he falls to 9 or so. That basically happens if Houston takes Cam over Amen. I got the impression Sam has Cam over Amen in his big board, though think he still assumes Amen goes #4? Anyway, in regards to the 20th pick, I think the takeaway should definitely be guys who check multiple boxes. Anyone who likely can't shoot, isn't strong/big enough to play defense, not the best feel/BBIQ, etc., might be someone who just gets played off the floor in the playoffs. Maybe it even makes sense to trade out (or trade down into 2nd rd) depending on who is available. And yes, there is irony that I'm saying the 20th pick *must* be able to shoot, but I'm ok with someone like Amen at #4. Spins has addressed this on Twitter and a bit in the video, but guys with the ball in their hands have different rules...though yeah they ideally need to shoot too.
