Where does that come from? Since when did Morey say he has a Big 3 and Trash approach. And since when is Detroit better than that. 4 of the last 5 rings have been won with Big 3, by three different teams. Then you have three of the Spurs rings were Big 3 before that. That's four teams. Morey, if anything, is more about the Dallas or OKC approach. And OKC hasn't won anything, yet, without Harden...Two Stars and balance. He's not Big 3 and Trash...even despite its huge title-winning record.
I supposed every posters should read the statement below before making any unwarranted critique of the owner “I do prefer watching fast-paced basketball,” Alexander said. “But I prefer winning first.”
I have posted 2000 times since Dec 2002, and that's a lot? I never think the Big 3 approach didn't work. It absolutely worked when you had arguably the best player in the game. It's in fact proven to be the best way. But unfortunately the Rockets don't have that luxury and aren't to acquire a Lebron, Durant or the next in the foreseeable future. So in order to compete in this era and make do with what you can have, either your get a better No 2 and No 3 than Wade/Bosh and Westbrook or you get significantly better from your 4-10. It's just my opinion obviously but it's easier to build a team of 5 All-Stars/boarderline All-Stars + depth than a team of 3 superstars better than the ones in Miami and OKC + minimum contract guys.
my bad...i was posting from a distance as my TV as the monitor....thought I saw 2012. I should have gotten up and looked. Took me 5 minutes to fix it. sorry. Now, take solace in the fact that Nowitzki did in fact beat the Heat without a star #2. And Morey did say that he will pay to fill out a team like Wade's and Nowitzki's when he has a top 5 player.
Shouldn't be that hard to find a No. 2 as good or better than Westbrook. I mean there's like 30 players on his level or better. We have a player right now who's better than Westbrook. The problem is finding a No. 1 as good as Durant (#2), Lebron (#1), CP3 (#4) or Dwight (#1). There's a solution for that.
Buddy, that's exactly the way those two teams play. They play fast. The NBA is changing. Quit hating on Les. Oh and LOL at the comment above saying there are 30 players better than Westbrook.
I always wonder if the Rockets got Mchale was because he agreed to listen to Morey somewhat and run the team the way Morey thinks will have the better chance of winning.
Don't forget Les became Rockets owner in 1994. I remembered that Forest Gump was released in 1994 where Forest run, run and run. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JdsMqRaz2WY?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The world is never the same once through the eyes of Forest Gump!
