Have you been paying attention at all? Yes, that is his main strength, and that's his most important one.

    ???????

He entered the league as the youngest assistant ever. He's just now entering the tenure in his career to which he would be considered.

Does logic fly right out the window when people get online or is it specifically when they enter clutchfans????

Just being honest. I don't really know anything about Stephen Silas (other than what Feigen/Woj tweeted). Know some about Hollins from his track record as HC.

But this Rockets team needs Defense, Structure, Accountability, Motivation, Player Development. That doesn't necessarily scream Mike D'Antoni. No doubt MDA would improve the Rockets offense, but that isn't enough.

If it is down to Silas/Hollins or MDA.....I think I would roll the dice with Silas/Hollins. Who knows, maybe Silas is a Brad Stevens type just waiting to be unleashed. I would rather take a calculated risk on upside like Silas/Hollins than MDA. Plus I like the thought that this was MOREY's candidate instead of Les'. Coach and GM have to be in synch.

He's a pretty young guy. So he probably wasn't getting looks for much of those 15 years simply due to his age.

As of June of 2014, here are the youngest coaches in the NBA:

    Brad Stevens (Boston) – 37
Derek Fisher (New York) – 39
    Jacque Vaughn (Orlando) – 39
    Dave Joerger (Memphis) – 40
    Frank Vogel (Indiana) – 40
    Jason Kidd (Brooklyn) – 41
    Mike Budenholzer (Atlanta) – 42
Monty Williams (New Orleans) – 42
    Mike Malone (Sacramento) – 42
    Erik Spoelstra (Miami) – 43

    Stephen Silas is only 43.

Mike Budenholzer, for example, was an assistant for 17 years before he got a head coaching job... and a lot of it was because he worked with Popovich and that carries a lot of weight.

If we have a Stephen on our team, maybe ESPN gets confused and starts writing some positive pieces on the Rockets. I'm down.

It was just an honest question dude. I'm sure most people here could easily relate to Vogel or JVG options. I'm sorry if I don't follow Silas as Charlotte's assistant. If he's a defensive mind, that's good. You ain't gotta be so mean about it :p

Les: We need Lin back, I want Mike, Lin loves Mike.

Morey: But Les, Mike would be a bad fit right now for this team.

Les: I don't give a damn! Lin ain't coming without a coach he likes, and we need Lin.

Morey: Perhaps I can try to find another coach Lin would like...What are your thoughts on the Hornets assistant coach Silas instead of Mike?

Les: ...who do you think Lin would like more?

The article specifically states Les Alexander is deeply involved in this coaching search. Blame Morey if you want ( and I am not saying he isn't blameless) but it is beyond foolish at this point to pretend Alexander isn't a really hands-on and involved owner.

Top assistant job on the best team in the NBA, likely leading to better future job opportunities(see: Alvin Gentry, Luke Walton, soon-to-be Jarron Collins) or Rockets job(if they're even offering it) or return to Charlotte's bench?

This is what Mauri gets for sitting on his ass and taking his time. You snooze you lose. Silas will take an assistant coaching gig with a respected organization like GS before taking a head coaching job in a garbage organization like the Rockets.

Think of it this way, would you rather be a CFO at Apple or a CEO at Blackberry? Rockets are Blackberry. GS is Apple.
