Others have mentioned him, but if they do miss out on FVV, Reaves would be a hell of a consolation prize. I'd even seriously overpay him, if he'd take a two-year deal. If the Rockets won't give anyone a third year, they're going to have to start seriously overpaying, and it sounds like that may not even be enough for FVV.
For what? To win as many games as the Blazers did last year and to have to restart the rebuild again in a couple of years? Pass.
3 original targets are still available. Get past a few of these guys, starts to get bleak. Fred VanVleet D’Angelo Russell Russell Westbrook Dennis Schroder Dennis Smith Jr. Kendrick Nunn Patrick Beverley Austin Reaves(RFA) Donte DiVincenzo Eric Gordon Josh Richardson Malik Beasley Seth Curry Lonnie Walker IV Ayo Dosunmu(RFA) Miles Bridges(RFA) Kelly Oubre Jr. Max Strus Jalen McDaniels Dillon Brooks Matisse Thybulle(RFA) Herb Jones(RFA) P.J. Washington(RFA) Grant Williams(RFA) Rui Hachimura(RFA) Brook Lopez Christian Wood Mason Plumlee Moritz Wagner Jock Landale Paul Reed(RFA) Willy Hernangomez Dwight Powell Mo Bamba Jaxson Hayes Montrezl Harrell Thomas Bryant
I'm not sure we can do it that way - there are rules about the max type of deal he can get due to RFA under Arenas provision
Can it be front loaded? 20 a year or mroe for the first 2 years and then a lot less for the last 2? He'd be a great old locker room vet at the end of that 4 year contract.
Give him the bag. It's two years and they gotta spend the money anyway. I'd rather them dramatically overpay 1-2 really quality additions than add a bunch of bench players for $10 million apiece.
Even if it's just Brook, i am happy enough that it adds stretch 5, and paint anchor which makes a huge difference in allowing the young guys to have an easier time on both sides of the floor. Let Amen get through the growing pains.
They could also add a defensive-minded veteran PG to start for a year like Bev or Schroeder. Even if they don't get FVV, I think they need to add a veteran PG who can play D.
