After the high of Cam Whitmore at #20, this offseason has given me a real soft-on. Oh well....back to middle-age. Wouldn't FVV stick around for more years in the place he already knows?
No, thank you on Van Vleet. Too small. Too inefficient. Don't like the idea of the highest paid player on the team being a player that is at best the third (?) best player on the team. Late game issues and locker room issues might be something.
FVV IN, BROOK LOPEZ OUT... What does that leave us cap wise? I'm assuming we aim for the S&T for Dillon Brooks so we can use the rest of the cap on another veteran too.
honestly that $ figure is what it will take to get FVV on a short-term deal…and he may turn that down. I’m very worried about striking out on both FVV and Lopez. Not a lot of options behind them and Stone can’t seem to pull off a good trade to save his life.
4 year (less than max?) offer from Toronto (assuming they’re offering it; assuming it’s guaranteed 2 years, if not 3?) or 2 year max offer from Houston

Martin, Usman Garuba and Josh Christopher on Tuesday, sources said. •The Rockets might prove to be an option for Vučević if Houston’s top target, Brook Lopez, spurns the Rockets’ advances and stays in Milwaukee, but would Vucevic want to join a rebuilding environment? Plus, Houston head coach Ime Udoka is focused on installing greater defensive principles in his first season at the helm of the Rockets, and Vucevic doesn’t bring the same level of back-line anchor ability that Lopez or Jakob Poeltl — expected to return to Toronto, sources said — could provide behind Houston’s young core.
You could see it, though, right? From a long way away. Like that BucEe's sign, three miles down the interstate, when you have to pee.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...agent-targets-next-stage-rebuild-18175998.php A more expensive free agent such as Raptors guard Fred VanVleet, who opted out of the final season of his contract worth $22.8 million, would be more costly than most options and impact the next pursuit if the Rockets can land him. Nets forward Cam Johnson is a restricted free agent and would likely also take an especially rich contract, in his case to give the Nets pause before matching. Bucks Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton are the most likely of the high-dollar targets on the Rockets’ list to return to their current team. Similarly, the Rockets have interest in the Lakers’ restricted free agents Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, but both are likely to stick with Los Angeles. In addition to those players on Houston’s wish list, according to a person with knowledge of the team’s thinking, the Rockets are interested in Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks, Nuggets guard/forward Bruce Brown and Raptors center Jakob Poeltl. Warriors guard Donte DiVincenzo is a restricted free agent, but also a player the Rockets will consider. If they are filling out their free-agent haul and have not signed one of their targeted centers, the Mavericks’ Dwight Powell would also have a place on their shopping list. The Harden option hovers over every move the Rockets consider, but there is an expectation that a reunion with a poor-fit star is unlikely with indications that Harden will stick with the 76ers.
