This idea sounds absurd to me. I'd be shocked if they can't find a taker for a decent draft pick and shred salary anyways with some sort of trade exception / filler.

Bingo. Expiring contract. He must be part of the trade.

They already used their amnesty on Gilbert Arenas.

Martin's expiring contract is easier to trade and more palatable to a rebuilding ORL team.

If I'm not mistaken (about how the rule works), the silliness in that would be amnestying a guy with one year left on the contract vs Scola who has like 3 years left.

Expiring contract needed for the salaries to work as it's not only Dwight being moved. For starters Turkoglu has a big ass contract.

I don't think the difficulty lies in finding a team who wants Scola, it's more a timing issue. We need to find a team which has enough cap space to at least absorb a large portion of his salary without sending much back, AND likes him enough to give up that first rounder (or something else of similar value) for him.

    That specificity makes it difficult.

Would anyone be willing to come up with a list of teams who have enough cap space to absorb at least $5M of Scola's salary?

Fair enough. "Early 30s." Doesn't really change the point. He's not in his prime as a basketball player anymore.

Also something to keep in mind about our offer to Orlando. Martin is not just an expiring contract, he's an expiring contract who is ALSO a player with tangible value at this year's trade deadline. The Magic ought to be able to increase their take from our trade by at least +1 first round pick by trading Martin at mid-season.

The Rockets will regret trading for Howard. DM needs to be fired if the team is gutted for him, even if he agrees to an extension.
Howard's behavior is atrocious and he is injured.Les needs to go if this happens. Cuban overspent money, but he surrounded Dirk with talent which led to a championship.
Losing Tyson Chandler and Barea led to a 1st round elimination. Keep our young players.Use cap space for a future star, who can contribute to a championship. No Pau Gasol either.

    Haha.

Some people on ClutchFans just WILL NOT be happy until we have several godawful unwatchable tanking seasons.
