They both are ran so much better than the Rockets. Those franchises have incredible depth within their scouting and development departments. They pay better, they have more people and they attract better high end talent off the court because they will spend to be competitive on the court.

They will spend their MLE, pay the tax, buy a draft pick. They spend money on assistant coaches and trainers and their G-league programs.

Compare the structure in Houston with Philadelphia. In Houston the GM and analytic assistant GM does the leg work under severe economic constraints. The owners son interjects himself into it and then ultimately the owner makes a rash decision, largely influenced by his son and his pride.

The way the Rockets are being ran, and with the lack of organizational resources available; the Rockets are not going to long term beat organizations like Dallas and Miami, Warriors, Clippers, Raptors and even NJ or Philadelphia.

The funny thing is everyone is against Hornacek when I think he will be the one that fits better than McMillan. Hornacek has a basketball philosophy most similar to what Silas and the Rockets want to run. Hornacek also is flexible and adaptive. He will stand up for himself but really isn’t a hot head. He had run ins with Carmelo Anthony and Joakim Noah. The shouting match with Anthony at halftime was over effort by the entire Knicks team. Anthony responded saying the entire Knicks organization sucked... it had less to do with Hornacek. The dust up Hornacek has with Noah was over playing time. Noah was hurt and not playing well. Noah screamed at Hornacek he wanted to play. Hornacek pulled Noah aside and gave him a tongue lashing and then told Noah to go cool off.

People have no idea how incredibly toxic that Knicks team Hornacek took over was from the owner and Phil Jackson and Carmelo and others. No one survived coaching that group.

McMillan is the coach that is hot headed, inflexible. He doesn’t believing in a fast paced offense. He doesn’t like three point shots and doesn’t believe in analytics or efficiency. Defensively he isn’t known as being creative at all.

The Suns were a mess too, not that the Suns and Knicks haven't been **** organizations regardless. I remember @Codman talking about the issues going on with the Suns, not sure If I remember what he said about Jeff (good or bad) but I believe he said something.

Point taken on Hornacek. If Rockets fans can get over the likes of Jason Terry being on the team, they can handle this.

About McMillan, though, what does he bring to the table then? Apart from being an experienced former head coach and well established name.

Lol dude the clippers haven’t done s$&@ even with kawhi they choked a 3-1 lead and they’ve had prime cp3 and Blake and blow another 3-1 lead to the same rockets franchise your trying to drag thru the mud.

And the sixers don’t get me started how many years have they tanked and been drafting first overall year after year.

And every year they are a huge disappointment in the playoffs.

And they sixers have paid 4 max players and for what?

And please stop bashing how the rockets are run and how cheap they are and blah blah blah where you saying all this years ago before Tilman came? Because he’s only been owner going into his 3rd year so.

That is a good question. I have assumed he would run the defense, but maybe he doesn’t. He would be good at keeping the players from over steeping the bounds, he is strong on fundamentals, is tough and guys play hard for him. So if he isn’t in charge of the defense, he can likely be valuable.

My question is, who is going to be in charge of the defense then? There are some also rans out there... but if we are not taking someone from an existing staff, the best choice is going to be one of the G- League coaches or an international coach. Those guys are the ones on the cutting edge because they coach in leagues where more radical systems and chances can be taken.

Before Morey was ran off by Tilman, he was planning on bringing a lot of coaches and philosophies from over seas and the G- League to run player development.

Would you rather be in the situation the Clippers are in right now? The Sixers?.... what situation were those teams in when Tilman Fertitta bought the Rockets? Where are they compared to the Rockets now?

Tilman Fertitta is a terrible owner. In three short years he has ran off the GM, his coach walked away because he was impossible to work with... he forced through a horrendous trade for Westbrook... he lost three number one picks (Westbrook/Anderson).... he failed to use the MLE after lying about it when it was very important... replaced Ariza with Ennis.... destroyed the relationship with his head coach by being embarrassingly cheap.

Tell me the last franchise where the coach and GM both threw up their hands and walked away.... think about that.... The coach walked away from the owner and the GM that was in place for 14 years had enough and left.

Tilman sucks, he has been about as bad as humanly possible. The Rockets are no longer a well ran organization.

I don’t want to say it, but long term there is ZERO to be excited about with this organization with this ownership and structure.

The Rockets are ran by a poorer and dumber Jerry Jones.

I rather have the rockets over those teams right now simply because.

Rockets > clips right now - they are already having to blow the team up because they failed miserably
Rockets > philly - philly is going to blow it up or will soon because unlike harden and Westbrook...Simmons and Embiid and horford and Harris don’t mix at all.

You can blame Tilman for morey leaving and MDA but IMO it was time for change.

Morey has been here 13 years
MDA simply because you cannot win a championship with his style of play...Kobe said it not me.

And all the Westbrook stuff is irrelevant because this is the first year with Russ. Who not to mention was playing some damn good ball before COVID and the bubble.

IMO we are off to a pretty damn solid start this off season

Promote stone who is still a unknown but seems more then qualified to be in position of GM.

Hired Stephen Silas a young innovate coach who has a reputation of being a brilliant offensive mind

Now just trade house and Gordon for a Big man and some bench depth and we will be set.

    Russ
    Harden
    RoCo
    Tuck
    Turner? / Bamba? / Noel?

With some added bench players and young guys like

nwaba- hope I spelled it right
Bruno - raw player with upside.

    Seems to have worked?

If it happens, and they are actually hired, then we should all give Fertitta some credit. Genuinely solid moves.

But why not some ex-Rockets, like Cassell? Instead an ex-Jazz player?

I fail to see the value in a bunch of big names who have failed. This already reeks of distrust in Silas as a head coach and cheap name chasing so Tilman in his mind is satisfied. He can tell all his buddies that he has former great players alongside this Silas fella...

Lmao@you guys listening to these deplorables. Its like saying "MDA really wasn't behind our offense it was REALLY John Lucas!!!!"

With that said Nate's had good defenses everywhere he's went. His defensive basketball IQ is through the roof. Plus he holds guys accountable, which is where Morey/MDA failed
