Not like whoever has been playing point guard for the Rockets the last few years has defended anyone either, going all the way back to Haren.
Maybe it's all just players put in the wrong positions. PG - Sengun SG - KPJ SF - Garuba PF - Eason ..C - Smith Seems like that ought to fix the losing issues.
That's a shame because my hope for him, from the day we drafted him, was that he would try to go on Paul George's trajectory, who massively improved his handles enough to be a perimeter player. Shifting to center would be the opposite of that.
Jabari is a SOH. What did he yell to Lucas (about Sengun)? “Get his ass off the floor!” Wait, it was “Take his ass out!” Take his ass out, now he’s trying to take Sengun’s starting spot. Steve is ready to oblige. SOH.
I don't think positions should be defined offensively Harden never defended pgs, Jokic doesn't, Giannis doesn't, LeBron doesn't, Luka doesn't, and Cade doesn't, Offensive roles of course exist, but they are no longer overwhelmingly tied to positions, nobody is listing Jokic or Sengun at PG. Defensive roles on the other hand will be tied to positions as long as players are different sizes. The advantage Jabari is talking about is being able to defend the opposing team's centers (while shooting like a wing). That leaves nobody for Sengun to defend on the court, the advantage he's talking about is Sengun on the bench That's only because Nix is really a 6'3 PF miss listed as a PG
Yes, and much quicker than Sengun. Will Sengun be able to get quicker? Will Jabari be able to get stronger? Look at the OP tweet, Smith specifically references "As I get stronger". You can feel however you want to feel about it, I'm not arguing about Senguns role on this team. I'm just saying, this is 100% Smith talking about taking Senguns position. You can say "ok list Sengun at PG" which is funny but it's wrong.
Okay Jabari - as long as this isn’t because you don’t trust your center. Everyone loves Sengun but I will admit a 4/5 duo of Victor Wem and Jabari Smith would be incredibly NASTY defensively
Yes, Jabari is talking about Sengun's position. He can get some of the backup minutes there, Garuba can play forward.
I think it's pretty clear that with Jabari finally showing up, Sengun's time with the team is almost over.
