New York is not including two picks. They are including one pick + the opportunity to swap picks and maybe move up depending on who does better next season.
Also the extra pick we would be getting from New York? That would be in 2012. I don't know about you, but I do actually want to make a title run sometime in the next two seasons. The New York deal is nice but doesn't really help us do that unless we turn around and make another trade (or more than one). If Chicago is willing to give us their 2010 first round pick I think that is preferable to getting a 2012 first round pick and just swapping with NY in 2011.
I think in a trade like this you have to ask yourself, which deal makes you better in say...two years. The answer is easily the NY deal. Are we gonna resign Thomas? For how much? Seems dumb to sign a new deal right before the new CBA. Hill is stil on his rookie salary for quite a few more years and will probably turn into Thomas, if not better. All the Chicago deal does is maybe squeak us in the playoffs this year and cost us a lottery pick. Salmons isnt a long term piece and neither is Miller. Think back to the Artest trade. While it was a good trade at the time to make us a one year contender, it cost us Casspi and Greene, both of would be great here right now. Don't you wish we wouldnt of made the trade now?
Do you know for sure that Chicago is not offering us draft picks? If so, please provide a source. If not, please stop pretending you know that the New York deal is better, because you don't.
I like the Bulls trade maybe a little more, but we need a SG ... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yfutjv8 I don't know if this one would have I change and maybe I'm just dreaming too much ... but hey, it's a proposal! => Bulls get T-Mac and Scola from the Rockets. I really think by given up Scola to the Bulls, Chicago is going to be more willing to give us Salmons. Mike James and Oberto are also expiring contracts and fillers for them. All four players are expiring, so they can try to sign Wade this summer ... => Wizards get Battier, a leader next to Jamison ... or to replace him IF they trade Jamison away. Cook, Jerome James and Pargo are expiring fillers and 'replace' Oberto and Mike James. => Rockets ... Brad Miller, Thomas AND two offensive minded SG in Salmons and Mike Miller! * Rockets new line-up: C: B. Miller/Hayes/Anderson PF: Landry/Thomas/Dorsey SF: Ariza/Budinger/Taylor SG: M.Miller/Salmons PG: Brooks/Lowry
Thats how I look at it. These years past by fast when you're not looking. Was just yesterday we're talking Rudy Gay/Shane Battier. Thats going on 4 years ago. Wouldnt it have been nice if somehow the Rockets squeezed an extra pick out of that for this draft, from the sucky Grizzlies? The NY trade can replenish the draft picks we gave up for Artest.
I think if we get Harrington and the picks, I take the New York deal. Larry Hughes is not someone I want on this team, so, right now, I'd prefer the Chicago deal....
Yeah, I think I would be taking the New York deal. Sure, the Chicago deal gets us some help right away, but even if we do make the playoffs, are we really going to go that far with Thomas, Miller and Salmons? I don't think we will. I like the NY deal cause it sets us up for the future.
really? come on bro, we'd only be having hughes for 30 games. thats it. 30 games. you can't live with that? if larry hughes is the reason you look down on the new yoork deal, then I'd say your misjudging it badly
Thomas would start at Center this year. I don't see Adelman starting Miller there...in fact with Scola and Landry on the team I don't see how Miller is going to get many minutes. Tyrus Thomas can block shots and he's a pretty good defender. That is one thing he never gets credit for...with that said i'd still take Hill because we have ENOUGH defense on this team.
Any ways....Tyrus Thomas is just Trevor Ariza playing the 4 spot... Sometimes he tries to take too many mid rang shots and bricks...sometimes he tries to create for himself and most times it is not good...
Maybe...but I don't see how Tyrus falls way back to 3rd center. I could see him backing up Hayes while he adjusts then taking his spot this year. He's not a scrubby player or something, and he's a pretty good shot blocker.
You want "success" now, you go for the Chicago deal. If you want "success" later on for the future, you go for the NY deal because honestly, not sure how much Jordan Hill can or will help you this season.
I disagree. Morey will keep him for this season. last time I checked we desperately needed a shooting guard. larry hughes can make plays too allowing aaron to play off the ball where hell be much much more effective. but they wont be resigned. there is a tiny chance that morey will resign him but that aint gonna happen. I'd rather sign ray allen to a mle or something rather than larry hughes. he will help our draft chances!
Heck no... We took the Lakers to 7... Morey made a great trade for Ron last year... (I do like the Knicks trade though...)
