Role players are interchangeable though (grotesquely underpaid ones not so much for the purpose of building the long term roster), Howard and his agent would be looking at their value similar to Morey, the potential return value either as players or trade assets.

Harden was for all intents and purposes the core to the deal though, as Dwight learned in a decade in Orlando, players of that caliber are almost impossible to get (as one of those ESPN talking heads said, SAS? if Harden were a free agent next year, he'd be someone that the Lakers and Mavs would have been going out all guns loaded to pair with Dwight).

keep in mind when we just had lin, parsons, asik, Howard was still HAPPY with the Lakers, Kobe and Mike Brown

alot has changed in lakerland so the lakers had just as much to do w him joining us as lin, asik, parsons, harden, olajuwon, yao, clyde etc

Keep in mind that last year when Dwight was traded to the lakers, its a different senario...

    1. Joining Lakers Super Team (kobe, gasol, nash) seems like a good idea. who wouldn't..
    2. I think someone told dwight about the possibility of having Phil Jackson coach the team in the near future.
    3. Hollywood seems to be a really good place to go if your from orlando.
    4. Not a lot of teams want to deal with the rockets as we dont have a lot of assests.

    Now...
    1. he know thats phil jackson will no coach
    2. the super team is old and cranky
    3. Hollywood is overrated
    4. we have one of the best assests to win

I think that the basic problem of the Lakers to keep superstar quality players in the team is the absolute dominance of Kobe. He will always be the alpha male with total control. That is tough on younger players that feel that they are in the same class with him. There is a limit what they can take from him. I think Dwight felt it too. That class of superstar usually wants his own team. I hope Dwight and James will build a good relationship and learn to co-exist in the team.

Harden wanted to play with Lin, Parsons, Asik... And McHale. So what's your problem? If the Rox didn't played like they did and made the playoff, no star player would want to come, Harden or no Harden. And how do you know Howard would've picked the Rox had Harden been with Houston before he signed with the Lakers? You are just full of it.

Harden wanted a max contract. He had no say in what team he went to.

I don't think Harden hand picked Houston. It was essentially up to who was willing to trade for him and who offered the most appealing package for him.

Presti ran it by him because it mattered that he was being sent to a team that he would sign the extension with, since the first contract is in many ways financial (since they dont have much saved after a rookie deal), a state tax free 5 year max deal worked out well.

Houston was not the only team that pursued Harden, and he didn't have to sign the extension if he didn't want to play in Houston with Lin, Parsons, Asik... he saw potential. Had he not agreed to an extension the trade might have fell through. But I have to agree that the type of money Houston could put on the table was huge. But Lin, Parsons, Asik were no scrubs either, not then and not now.

Man Harden came over here because of the money and the fact that he would be the main man. It had nothing to do with Asik and Lin signing LOL.

How do you know that for a fact? He could be the main man means Lin and Asik couldn't. So, yes, Lin and Asik had something to do with it.

Lin and Asik staying is not a bad thing. At the very worst, Lin is still a serviceable starting PG. It could be worse... we could be back to starting players like Rafer or Brooks at point still. Asik is too much a professional to b**** and whine on the court and has a chance to be a huge part of future championship runs.

Harden would have been willing to play for ANYONE who was willing to pay him the max... And how could you blame him.

Disagree 100, ask that same question to yourself. How do you know? A lot of rising Superstar wants to set their own legacy.

Who the heck that Washington and Cleveland has that's better for Howard to play with than Harden...???

This is the NBA and despite it being a TEAM game _ ONE player makes a differnce. Howard is here because of Harden... PERIOD. Role players are easy to find but star players aren't.

That's why Howard has been trying to team up with other star players like D-Will and CP3... You haven't heard him talking about role players. If that was the case he would have accepted the trade here last year because we had a team full of role players... Lol..

Nobody is blaming him taking the money, just saying there were other factors.
