the rockets are after roster space. those teams are under the cap, no player would be coming back.

One other nice thing about trading Barry---and if this was already mentioned here, I missed it---is that you could move him in this sort of trade:

    To the Clippers, Thunder, or Memphis (along with some $$, I suppose) for a 2nd round pick;

At the same time, make a trade with another team that needs to dump even more salary than we do, maybe even a team that's signing-and-trading someone and has to take BYC considerations into account (Sessions, Lee, not that I think we're after either of those dudes, but just an example).

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spo...-interested-in-rockets-guard-brent-barry.html

A Clippers source confirmed a report from the Houston Chronicle that said the Clippers were among three teams to have had talks with the Rockets for acquiring veteran guard Brent Barry, but that the team's interest is "dated."

The Clippers had talks earlier this summer with the Rockets, the source said, but their interest waned after acquiring backup point guard Sebastian Telfair, Craig Smith and Mark Madsen in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Quentin Richardson.

The Clippers had liked Barry's versatility and ability to play at point and shooting guard. The Rockets signed Barry in the 2008 off-season because of his playoff experience. Barry, who has one season left on his contract worth a reported $2.062 million, averaged 3.7 points and shot 40.7% in 56 games last season.

Why on earth would anyone want to have Ricky Davis on their team? The guy is a cancer

Totally agree with you Barry did not get the job done on the court. That being said there are different ways to be a positive presence to the young guys. Yes it would have been more effective if he was playing well, but to say he had no presence because he didn't is not entirely true. The Barry signing didn't work out he def looks done as a player. Deke is just a freak of nature not to many if any 40 plus year olds are as productive as he

Maybe Morey wants to get a 3rd option at PG. Telfair and Barry's contract works out.

Telfair wouldn't be bad, seeing he's under 24. I don't think the Clippers are interested anymore though.

Plus Telfair would be off the books next year.

Guys, I have said it before in this thread. Don't expect a player to come back in this trade.

It will be Barry and Cash for a conditional pick or "future considerations"

Don't dream of a player in return

Barry has value on/off the court with or w/out Yao and TMAC. I'm surprised that he averaged less than 1 turnover per game during the reg season as I also thought he was committing more turnovers than that. However, he needs to sharpen his ball handling, passing, & D-Fence.

He didn't hit shots and turned the ball over at a high rate, but while I may be in the minority on this, I honestly don't think anyone else on our team looked as fluid as Brent did in running our offense. He always moved the ball quickly and cut hard.

I agree, he is a smart player and know to how run the offense well, like last year in games when i watch him with the second unit, he was good with ball movement and running the offense, you can said he's kinda like a leader of teh second unit :)

I totally agree with you on all points. His knowledge of how to run the offense was IMO very helpful to the young guys. To bad he never really got into a rhythm shooting

He turned the ball over more per minutes played than anyone else on the team during the playoffs and during regular season except for Cook.

Maybe try to get Sessions out of this?

    Atkins ($760k guaranteed) → Barry + White (non-guaranteed) + $1.3028M
    *White waived
*Apparently T-Wolves don't plan to keep Atkins. $760k guarantee + cash would make Barry a no cost player to acquire

    Sessions (S&T $4M) + Elson + Sharpe → Atkins + Hayes
*Idea is to minimise added salary for Bucks and cut their roster down to 15
*Sharpe is out for the season, waived
*Hayes would be a Skiles type player, Bucks need more "D"
    *Atkins waived

    Elson → $2.7M to Grizzlies/Thunder or $1.7M to Blazers
*Grizzlies or Thunder make $1M profit
*Blazers yet to sign their 31st pick Pendergraph PF/C
*More leverage for Blazers in their negotiations with Pendegraph
*Pendergraph meant to help with their bigman softness, SL says he stays on bench

Let's not make excuses for Barry saying he didn't get looks last year. Sure he'd seen more with T-Mac, but Yao inside and AB driving did get him open some. I was just surprised how often he PASSED UP open looks at the 3 point line. The kind of looks Air Bullard would have squeezed the trigger on every time. I like that mentality better, shoot it if you're open, and let the coach take you out if you're missing.

Barry looked like he was trying to show he was still a complete all-around basketball player. Wasn't very special at being a specialist.
