If you want to talk about a Brick Brick Brick guy, then you should talk about James Posey. Man I don't want this kid back. He is the one that doesn't fit well with this team. Like I said during the regular season, if you are going to run the offense through Yao you have to have someone who can shoot it when the double teams come. The second half of last year either the SF or the PF doubled down on Yao nearly everytime he touched it and when he kicked it out to our forwards they shot a brick. Oh yeah he plays decent/good defense, but isn't the stopper some of this board think he is. If we give him a penny over 4yrs for 20mil, it will be the same kind of mistake we made with Mooch, Kato, MoT etc.

Horry, you mean the 1for40 Horry? Sorry Morris would be more effective and Horry has burned his boat by the comments he has made over the years with the Lakers. We shouldn't have players return for old time sake! Is this a team about Championships or just one that wishes to entertain? What ever happened to the Big Splaaaaaaaaash going into the new Arena? We need to start thinking bigtime not just pick up the bits and pieces, they can be had anytime. If we dont start thinking bigtime, we still will improve but find that we are number FIVE in the Mid-West !!

If TMo truly was brought onto the roster as a favor to Steve, then maybe this is TMo's first chance to demonstrate that his being on the roster is not just a favor to Steve.

I truly hope TMo stays and plays for us. TMo showed marked improvement this year and I am optimistic that it will continue. TMo showed versatility last year as well. I think if we do lose TMo, we will not be able to replace him at anything near what we would have had to pay him.

I hope we keep Hawkins as well.

You're right, actually, I need to talk to you about that. Actually, I dont, I just need to get my s*** together. Stupid Earthlink. And dissing Chucky is a good idea now, actually. Open season on Chucky Brown comments ("scrub," etc...) until I put the site back up. Motivate me, please.

Back to our regularly scheduled thread.

You know who I sort of miss on this team? Pre-contract Shandon Anderson. He's like an overpaid Oscar Torres. Where are all the guys like that? I want us to get some Mario-Elie-sized bench player who is a little inconsistent, sort of annoyed all the time, but a pretty good defender. We need some guys like that, and I dont think Morris was one of those guys.

    HP, regarding guards,

I thought I read that JVG may look at bringing Charlie Ward to Houston. What do you think of him as a solid vet to backup Francis?

Where did all these TMo lovers come from. He used to get bashed all the time. Now that he is leaving, everyone suddenly thinks we are gonna miss him? It's good that he is finally off the team. It sucks we had to blow a first round pick on him, cause that was a huge waste. Getting rid of TMo just opens up more time for Nachbar. Think about it. Doesnt everyone want that anyways? TMo doesnt help our team at all. He takes up minutes that should go to someone else. He'll be lucky to get picked up next year and get significant minutes.

This (letting Tmo go) leads me to think 1) we think Boki is ready to no worse be an 9th-10th man and play in a pinch, 2) JPo is pretty much a lock to resign, and 3) we don't think Tmo can help in 4 spot depth. #1 and #2 are good things.

If we can't do an offseason trade or full MCE to upgrade our starting 4 (B. Grant, PJ, Howard, etc), maybe Tmo slot is better given to someone who provides something different as a 2nd back-up 4. Be it for the veteran mimimum for a 3rd team specialist PF such as Horry (granted not physical and perhaps a little meek, but nonetheless a vet who has defended the leagues toughest 4s--something Tmo just try to do), Campbell (ditto with Horry but even bigger and meeker), Oakley (yuck on saying it, but if he can still walk he might bring some things this team needs), Traylor, Ty Hill, D Ham, or Trent, or give a younger 4 like Moiso, Scalabrine or Burke a chance to make the team via summer league play.

That's the way I feel about it. I understand the argument against keeping him, but from what CD said this morning it looks like Badiane will spend this year in Europe, which leaves a roster spot.

Like DD mentioned, I hope we aren't looking at another Craig Ehlo. Time will tell.

    HP,
I seem to recall the management saying that some players were released in their own best interest, but I thought that Oscar Torres and maybe Damon Jones were not happy with the Rockets' brass.

    Yetti,

Can you put the following legend in your signature? Given your propensity to use big words:

    Big Splaaaaaaaaash = Big Splash

I am new to reading (Thanks Hooked on Phonics) and by the time I sound out S-P-l-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-sh, each time I miss out on something else that just went on. Thanks in advance (advance - two syllables).

NIKEStrad- If we pick up Odom, that would be crazy.

I guess they let go of Morris because Nachbar might be showing he can take over that spot and we can fill some other needs. I still don't see why we picked Maddox over Tierre. It was clear who was the better player, and value-wise I'd pick Tierre over Mooch anyday as well.

We knew that Maddox was a goner the moment he missed that plane.

As for Morris, well, it's pretty obvious that we are clearing the roster for vets. As HP pointed out, we need a backup guard a lot more than we need a backup forward. So letting Morris walk is a logical move.

I think we are going to get at least one guard, probably two. With that, keeping Morris would mean putting him in the IR doghouse. Many of you guys want to see more of Boki. I think we will see that. Morris is simply the odd man out.

Watch it. If he's really not done, and he gets picked up again, you might lose your edge, and some geocity Chucky site might pass you by.

Detroit may have some room before they re-sign Hamilton and Orlando will likely have a $5m exception for Grant Hill coming their way (in addition to their MCE).

I think the Magic are looking hard at Posey; he's exactly the type of SF that they've been looking for (assuming they can't get Odom). I would be very worried about them, above all of the others to tell the truth.

They cut Damon partly because Moochie signed.

I remember distinctly that Rudy said they cut Damon early in preseason, to give him a chance to hook up with another team before the season. I just can't imagine a guy would accept an invitation to a camp then show up disgruntled within 2 weeks. Remember, they invited Jones due to Moochie still not being signed. Once Moochie signed, they cut Damon and surprised everyone by keeping Torres, not to mention Tierre as a 3rd PG.

I could be wrong, but I remember that Rudy called around to try to find a place for Torres. Doesn't mean he wasn't disgruntled to boot, but not enough for Rudy to ditch him completely, like he did Langhi. I don't recall him helping Langhi latch onto the Suns.

I hate to see TMo go, because he seemed like one of our most improved players, with some potential. So really hope losing him means that we are gaining someone good that can either D up or spot up shoot from Yao's kickouts.

There is still a chance that we could sign Terence Morris for the minimum later on....

I guess Steve doesn't mind too much.

    Bye bye Tito! YAY!!!!

I'm not mad....but I will be if Posey leaves...

    Francis/Moochie
    Mobley/Posey hopefully/Hawkins hopefully
