Dude walked into a dumpster fire but seems to be handling it well. I like the Roco trade because we desperately needed some draft capital. I also like the approach to handling the Harden and Russ trade requests. No need to panic as both are under contract. And he made it clear that it will take an incredible offer to move Harden. I was worried when Morey left that teams would try to take advantage of our new inexperienced GM but so far so good imo.
Yes, and the Silas hiring is another good one. I will feel better, if he swings for the fences with the 16th, instead of getting the next Sam Dekker etc. @ApacheWarrior @D-rock @Deckard @Nook
He’s really not a typical rookie gm. He’s been in every front office convo foe the last 15 years. We are the same front office just with a new leader
He obviously knows what he’s doing somewhat. Morey is obviously smart, but these guys been in the room and swinging deals for a long time.
The Roco thing is a to be determined no? I get the picks if we turn them into something. But if we keep Harden what was the point of downgrading one of our best players? Just to add a mid first round rookie?
…oh, yeah…… A variety of SAUCES control the panic buttons n timely release fake news dragging our attention, stirring our emotion, leaving baits for our curiosities as well as subsequent tie-in subscriptions they care most.
He’s been working under Morey for years just like Rosas and McNair. He’ll do fine. He just needs to restock the brain trust around him.
Yeah losing Roco will hurt but I think that we desperately needed to add some youth and athleticism to this team whether we keep Harden or not. Adding Ariza softens the blow a little hopefully.
After seeing what happened with Bill O'Brien across town... the bar is low. Thankfully he has already cleared it.
I said it before in the trade thread, but the Roco deal cannot stand on it's own. It makes zero sense. There has to be AT LEAST one more deal coming for it to make any sense. At a minimum, we have to have someone to play the 5, and we know that Silas said he wants to be able to play "multiple ways", in other words, not 48 minutes of small ball. So we know that SOMETHING is coming in terms of a real center. Maybe he flips both firsts for someone we haven't even considered? Or maybe he picks at 16 and then trades the other 1st rounder from Portland for a center? It's hard to say, and hard to judge, before we see the follow up moves.
Bald GM's don't do anything. You have to have great Pat Riley or Jerry West hair to get the job done. This is the NBA not a tractor store.
I'm so bummed about Covington. Love that guy's game. Such a great fit for a championship team. Hope he wins a title.
Is it? We traded less for Covington and got more for him and now we have a competent bench player in Ariza.
