she's just saying she will opt out not sure if she really does.. will she really deny a petient with good insurance? the publicity can bring her a lot of wingnut/radical customers and fame.. and I have't seen the cash prices for her procedures yet.. that plus additional the tax savings
Not only that she is dishonest now. Wait 2 years after she carries her practice this way and see how she likes the welfare check the government gives her.
this her? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4sspHwA-IyM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4sspHwA-IyM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Very likely, the wingnuts will flock to her now I am sure. Basso will be the first to line up if she was in his city.
This is what I was going to say. She's not really going to be making any more money since she would be getting paid by the insurance company anyway (though she could skim more profits since she wouldn't have to worry about the insurance company noticing), but could get quite a lot more business from the radical customers who agree with her skewed ideology. Or, it could backfire. Those same radicals still badly need their insurance to pay for their healthcare and won't be able to afford her. She'll either revert her way or go bankrupt. Either way, she'd lose.
Good for her. She's standing up for what she believes is right even if it is career suicide. Something tells me though that she'll cater to a small group of people paranoid who don't want the government involved in the 'medical transaction'...I took at as a possible sales pitch at that crowd anyway even if that wasn't her intention.
It's not unheard of for a doctor to go on a cash-only basis. I've heard of at least a couple. Essentially you just treat rich people, which is a nice clientèle to have if you get them.
She;ll be able to charge what she likes instead of what the insurance companies are willing to pay her. So, she could make more money... if she solves the riddle of how to get customers.
I'll take that as yes. And to answer your question, I absolutely think that the federal government should "run" public schools, in the sense that at the very least they establish minimum standards for instruction, professional certification, and funding, just as they do now. So, am I "less free" because my taxes are used to help pay for your son's extremely expensive special education services. Do you have any idea what those expenses are? I can give you a little window into the level of expense involved. I used to teach at a special education facility with many autistic students. If a local school system could not provide adequate services for a student they were required BY FEDERAL LAW to pay to obtain those services. Students like this were sent to our school and the local school system paid their tuition. 10 years ago the MINIMUM tuition was $25,000 and went up into the 90,000 range. But I don't begrudge having my tax dollars help to pay for services for these kids. It doesn't make me less free. It makes me part of a community. It makes them more free because they'll have an opportunity to achieve to their fullest potential. Just like the insurance and services and FEDERAL requirements that are components of the health care bill will give more people the opportunity to achieve to the fullest of their potential, a little more "free" of the staggering physical, financial, and mental burden that comes with living without medical insurance.
having just sued NYC and won, i know exactly what those costs are. i wan't aware you lived in New York however.
If you start your practice that way, good for you. However, she has many patients that use insurance (if not all of them), and she's basically screwing them over if they depend on that insurance.
I don't. Are you seriously trying to argue that because I don't live in New York that my taxes don't help to pay for your son's special education services?
what do you find amusing about special needs kids and the process of getting them the services and education the need?
Yay! An opportunity to quote myself... By the way basso, did you ever apologize for representing that email questionnaire as a legit survey done by the NEJM?
As opposed to corporations that have an interest in denying you coverage and saving themselves cash (aka insurance companies)? That doctor acts as if the alternative to the HC bill is some Ayn Rand paradise.
Well, let's just say you have a history of telling anectdotes that are big giant lies. Anyway, I'd like to hear your story of this lawsuit and your triumph over the city of new york(which, coincidentally, results in my having to pay for your children's needs). Docket numbers? etc? thanks.
