The US Postal Service comparison, with other couriers. Apply it fed run health care any way you want - At my office we ship using UPS, Fedex, DHL when it was around, and US Postal Service. The annoyance of USPS is when they'll send you back an express package if you're paying even 3 ounces under the next rate level. The other couriers they automatically weigh the package and bill the amount it to your account, so there's no need to even have a scale...USPS might do that with some other services but we havent looked into. If we weighed our packages instead of being lazy that wouldnt be an issue. Thats about it as far as the obvious hiccups in service. I even just now asked an employee here to tell me the last time USPS sent back a bad package, or the last time we had to track a misplaced package someone complained about and he couldnt even remember...that DOES happen with UPS. (Though our volume is way higher with UPS) When I was into collectibles trading a few years ago I used USPS exclusively. They seemed to deliver the packages with the least amount of damage. Its not great with sending out bulk shipping. The express rates aren't that cheap (worker's wages I suppose). Other couriers you can negotiate rates. If I give Fedex a 9.5 rating I'd rate UPS an 8.8. USPS has an express rates Death Panel that oversees whats worthy of being continued through the delivery system and what isnt.
