I’m not smart enough to have a solution to a 60-year-old problem.

I’m against collective punishment. It’s morally wrong, and it’s also against Israel’s stated policy. Israelis should hold their government accountable to their stated goals. I think new leadership there is badly needed – new ideas and a new approach to solve their problem. The old idea failed, and, in fact, that old idea resulted in the massive issue they are facing today.

    It's not about "collective punishment".

It's about eliminating the threat to Israel's population (which includes 2 million Muslim Arabs) from the Gazan terrorists.

You yourself say that you don't know how else they could do this, when the Gazan terrorists are deeply embedded in the "civilian" population/use them as human shields.

But you want Israel to stop defending itself.

Is the only logical conclusion that you value the lives of Israelis (including the 2 million Arab Muslims in Israel) less than the lives of Gazans, who, according to polls, overwhelmingly applauded the murders of innocent Israeli civilians on October 7th?

It's a near impossible solvable conflict because both groups have legitimate claims to not only live on the land, but more important for this conflict govern the people of the land. Hamas and Likud are symptoms of the bigger problem that you have two groups who cannot assimilate into the other, and both are willing to kill to defend their claims for their right to rule and live in Palestine.

But collective punishment is not an appropriate solution.

It is going to be a blood bath if the IDF decides to bomb Rafah.

Hamas terrorists will wear civilian clothes and when they die which they will, Hamas controlled ministry of information will cite them as innocent deaths. Idiots will believe it but then again people believe humans can be cats - doesn’t make it true

By that logic, Israel started the war when the Jewish European immigrants in British Palestine revolted for self-rule and thus started the war.

    But that logic is flawed.

Israel faces mounting pressure for inquiry into Gaza aid deaths, US to air drop supplies
World leaders called on Friday for an independent inquiry after Israeli troops opened fire on Palestinians at a food aid distribution site in northern Gaza, killing more than 100 people, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The calls came as President Joe Biden said that the US would start to deliver relief supplies from the air into the enclave. Read our blog to see how the day's events unfolded.

I can't imagine the fear the Palestinian mom will have seeing a plane fly overhead unsure if it is there to drop a bomb or food on them. And if they get the food, worrying if they will be shot at by the paroling IDF.

It's difficult to see how a two state solution will be feasible at this point. Israel would want a buffer because the Palestinians never ****ing forget.

Right wing Israeli cons also understand the numbers game of a democratic solution, and it doesn't skew for Israel.

Bibi's fulfilling war criminal fantasies for all who have given up trying.

I can't see how we'll move forward towards peace in another 30 years.

Even if Bibi roots out Hamas, there will be a political price. I guess there's a presumption that Americans will stand with Israel amid international backlash, but at this point it's hard to stomach Israeli support if Bibi isn't tried as a war criminal,

Why does Hamas hide behind human shields and infrastructure?. - because they know Israel has no choice to deal with them especially after 3000 Hamas fighters went into Israel to specifically KILL thousands of innocents in the most gruesome manner…they know despite Israel’s best efforts that there will be travesty.

Trying to live with Hamas has proven an existential threat for Israel. The sooner Hamas is eradicated and militarily disabled the better for all gazans. There needs to be some accountability for gazans to own enabling and supporting hamas- I’m not referring to collective punishment but I’m sorry Gaza doesn’t need to have anything independent . They lost that right with oct 7

@ROXRAN I ask that you open your perspectives on this. I encourage you to continue to read pro-Israeli perspectives, but at the same time, read almost any major news organizations reporting on this conflict. These are real people who had real lives.

Ps why anyone blindly believing Hamas-run health ministry all of a sudden as if Hamas terrorists are beyond reproach and a factual authority is beyond me.

you know the same people that went in Israel by the thousands to specifically kill non combatants and as many innocents as possible…yep those people

Bibi's goal is not release the hostages but to grind Gaza into dust.
