I think the Sara Palin bashing is getting a bit much. Making fun of her as a politician is totally far game. She's not a very good one. But man, some of this stuff is a bit much. I respect Sarah Palin on a lot of things. Namely, it's pretty courageous to bring a kid with Down Syndrome into this world. Not sure if that's the right thing to do or not, but it is a courageous thing. It's an even greater sacrifice - one that I admit I don't know I would do. As a hockey mom, with her life history and perspective, she's a pretty amazing woman in her own right. She has a lot to be proud of. And it's pretty amazing that she got to the place she did. Unfortunately, her ambitions exceeded her capability, but you do have to feel for the woman a bit. I mean, it was crazy that she was picked for VP. She wasn't prepared for it, she's just a mom who because of her style and her desire to make things better she rose to heights in ALASKA. A place where she could be successful, where you didn't need to know about foreign policy or other national issues as much. The appeal of Sara Palin was the reason she failed so badly on the national level. She's not a politician. She's a hockey mom. Diplomacy and nuanced positions aren't for her. She speaks whats on her mind, reveals who she is, and wears her heart on the sleeve. I don't think she should be bashed for that. She's not a wacko. She's just way over her head. And to a large degree, that fault lies with John McCain, and not her. The corruption issues she has are common amongst many politicians. She has made some mistakes for sure. And again, I entirely think as a national politician, she's a joke. She has no business being on that level. But c'mon, she's really not that bad of a person. She's just got WAY over her head and it's painful to watch.

Never understood the level of hate the women gets, at least from the residents of D&D. Yes she is not a good politician, yes she messed up during the campaign, but the level of venom towards her is quite amazing. Direct some of that to people like John Edwards would seem be more appropriate, talk about a vile human being.
her appeal is to people who feel it just takes good ole plain common sense and not actual learned intelligence to run the country. it was the same appeal that got bush elected two years (yes i know he's ivy league but that's not what he ran on), and people are slowly turning away from that logic. she is not a victim in this, and i wish people would stop portraying her that way, especially as someone pointed out she was pretty much mccain's attack dog and she relished that role. she can dish it but can't take it bottom line, and for her to play the victim when she is claimed to be the epotime of the right's politics is even more hilarious/sad that the wingnuts don't see the irony.

She's been given a lot of advice by a lot of people and is stumbling because she is doing things she's not uncomfortable with. No, she's not innocent. But she also isn't this terrible person either. There's a big difference between being a small town mayor or even the governor of Alaska and say, the governor of Texas. She has failed as a national politician, and the damage was bad enough that she is leaving politics. She resigned - not out of scandal, but because it was too much on her and her family. I mean, it was comical, but it's done. She's down. And yet she's still being hit hard. Why don't people just let it go? her politicial career is over. But it's like people are dancing on her grave at this point.

In fact I've never mentioned her Down's baby (in fact I don't think I would even know that she had a down's baby) except when quoting one of your posts and ask you why you keep mentioning it. I don't care that she has differently abled child. I reallly don't. Well, that didn't take long (see my post above for reference). Now some crazy lady's independent blog from the backwoods of Alaska is "the Palin media attack machine". It is very obvious that "libpigs" aren't the only sheep who struggle with the truth. Most people claiming to be classical liberals, such as Jorge claims to be, are far from the constitutionalists as they would like to present themselves. And truth is certainly not the political quality sought by people such as Basso and Jorge. Tolerance and the ability to shut your mouth and open your ears being similar traits not shared among the political extremists (left and right). Unfortunately this is universal to both parties. Truth and the best interest of the United States of America takes a back seat to digging up the dirt and spinning what little truth does surface into a way to attack your fellow Americans. Divisive rhetoric and innuendo instead of intelligent considerate dialogue. A complete lack of mutual respect which in turn promotes the same as what is given. All too typical - and passed on as today's news. News is now commentary and entertainment. You may as well substitute TMZ for FoxNews as you would get about the same amount of intelligent content. Add in the "everyone isn't as patriotic as I am" bull**** and I have pretty much lost faith in American politics. It sucks worse than American Idol. You are all blind followers eating up that which your respective political entertainment machines want to feed you. You press a button to choose who sang the best without realizing that they are all singing the same damn song, just in slightly different keys. Congratulations. You are all individuals.
