I think the guy is extraordinarily selfish and attention-seeking, but where's the proof that he disrupts team chemistry? Didn't the Jets start out awesome last year, and wasn't he really really good until some kind of shoulder/arm injury?
Did the Jets make the playoffs last year? No? There you go. Proof. Any time a team doesn't make the playoffs it is proof that all the players disrupt team chemistry.
Good for him. Now we'll get to see Adrian Peterson with a QB that has an above average competency level. I don't see how you could be against this unless you are a Vikings fan and wanted to see Sage or Tavaris get a shot. Why care about his legacy if he doesn't care? Why care about how he came back if he and the team both come to terms that they are happy with? Sure, ESPN is going to fellate him all season, but if it wasn't Brett it would've been someone else that nobody would've been happy seeing either (Brady? Tebow? Etc) - and even then, your anger would be misplaced by putting that on Favre. Direct it at the mockery that ESPN has become.
I remember listening to "Mike and Mike" after last season and Greenberg (huge Jets fan) being asked if he wanted Favre back, and he said no because of all the whispers about him disassociating himself with his teammates. Then shortly after that a couple of guys were quoted as saying so (don't remember who or if they were anonymous). Granted it was only a couple of guys, but I tend to believe the majority felt that way. He wouldn't even dress in the same locker room as his teammates. Now, he misses the better portion of training camp and decides he wants to come back all of a sudden. Training camp is where you build team chemistry! Certainly not where you sign a new starting quarterback. The guy is a joke. His career ended with that pick he threw to lose the NFC championship game 2 years ago. That's his game now- he's just a slinger. Not a leader.
Sooooooo Brett Favre will start in Friday's preseason game. So they probably had all of this planned out a few weeks ago. Pretty messed up for Sage and Tavaris.
LOFL...love it! Ah, who didn't see this one coming? It is like watching some painful vaudeville act and you keep waiting for the hook to come out and take them off the stage except for some reason, whoever is in charge of the hook is asleep at the wheel on the Favre situation. So, another season of reading Gene Wojciechowski defending Favre's right to be a drama queen...WOOOOO!!
Good for him. Better for me because now maybe I don't have to watch AP see 9 in the box all game long. Why is anyone suprised? The Vikings have a dominating running game and a strong defense and they were going to start either Jackson or Sage?? An average QB gives them a better chance to win.
Not surprising. I wouldn't sweat it too hard if I was Jackson or Sage...Favre will be injured by the 7th or 8th week and they will have their chance
No. Signing with the Vikings just to stick it to the Packers does. Holding an organization hostage for years, retiring, and then trying to do it again does.
I don't think he's signing with the Vikings to get at the Packers. There is a coordinator there that he is great friends with. He's wanted to play with him before. What organization did he hold hostage for years?
I'm pretty sure they are sweating it very hard because if things happen the way they have the last few years Favre's backup QB won't see the field.
