Actually, from looking at everyone's responses to this point, with the exception of maybe 1 person, it doesn't seem that way at all.
Carlin is indeed funny, but sometimes he gets on these tracks where he tends to make fun of language and odd things that people say. Like one bit he did about a PIN number and how saying the word "number" after was redundant. Sure, it was true, but it wasn't really funny. Having said that, some his "language" bits had me rolling...like the one where he made fun of the phrase "going down the tubes"
GOOD call. I forgot about Eddie. A lot of people are put off by him with the whole cross dressing thing. But that guy is one of the funniest people I have ever seen or heard. "Cake or death?"
"If women fall over wearing heels, that's embarrassing, if you're a bloke and fall down in heels, then you have to kill yourself."
Carlin does to much anti-religion/anti-God stuff for my tastes. I think he has many good bits, but I also think he has a lot of crap. Being in the business so long will do that to you.
Carlin is more or less anti-everything. That's his thing. He's the representative of the American counter-culture. And he's still the best.
My favorite right now is, by far, Brian Regan. He's hilarious. Others: Eddie Murphy Richard Pryor Bill Cosby Chris Rock George Carlin Jerry Seinfeld Damon Wayans There is one other guy whose name escapes me at the moment.
Bill Hicks is the funniest man I have ever seen live (and I have seen Carlin and Dennis Miller live). My stomach was aching for three days after that night at the Laff Stop.
