Not a big fan of the genre anymore but these are my favorites Night of the Living Dead Return of the living Dead Dawn of of the Dead (Romero) Day of the Dead (Romero) 28 Days later.
In before some pseudo zombie flick aficionado claims 28 Days Later zombies aren't zombies. Imo, it's the goat. Close second is Return of the Living Dead. Goofy, but brilliant 80s cheese. I mean c'mon... it had everything... fuchsia-haired nude zombie, little person zombie, yellow man zombie, oil can zombie, etc. One of the first things that comes to mind when I think of zombie movies is "I want your brains, Tina!"
I was in high school and working at a movie theater around the time 28 weeks later came out. Always made sure to catch the intro lol Such an amazing soundtrack
28 Days Later Train to Busan Those 2 transcend the genre. I genuinely liked the Dawn of the Dead remake. I was surprised how much I liked it.
I liked Train to Busan and probably would have enjoyed it more before the zombie craze but it did not really break new ground in my opinion but it did keep my interest, I cared about what happened to those people.
28 Days Later is my favorite. I can't think of any zombie movie I didn't like. Didn't like The Walking Dead at all for some reason.
Whem i was about 10-12 i stayed up late and watched The Omega Man on the late-late show. It scared the pants off of young me, and I still love it. Maybe a little stretch as a zombie movie. The original Romero Dawn of the Dead really stuck with me, too. The first half was very lean and taut in a way that was good for generating stress because it was different. The ending was very silly, though. Both hold their position in my mind for the fact that i saw them at a young age. I dont think any zombie movie could have such an impression on me anymore, at my advancing age.
Zombie land is okay, and I too like Shaun of the dead. In general I like comedies so I don't know many
