They apparently only make it avialable on certain days, you have to call ahead to reserve, and it's also hard to get to - so you sort of have to be patient and get lucky....then lug a crate back to the US.

I can't really say that I have a favorite brand. I go through phases where im craving hops. Then I have times where just cant get enough wonderful rich bready malt. The list goes on. I usually just drink my homebrew and occationaly make a beer run to Spec's when a specific style craving comes up. Sam and Jug I suggest you try trading on www.beeradvocate.com if you want to aquire hard to get beers. I have personally had four Westy 12's through trades on the site.

I love that site, but I've never tried a trade.

What'd you have to give up to get the 12s?

Believe it or not mainly some local beers. I of course included some nice craft and homebrew. Most of the traders there practice whats called "beer karma" and are very generous. Once you do a few trades and your collection grows no beer to too hard to get (except Pliny the Younger). On a side note, a new brewery opened up here in Conroe and its flagship is an uber hoppy pale ale that comes in a 16oz can! Really nice stuff.

I just tried Dale's Pale Ale, which comes in a can. I wasn't impressed--pretty much canned Sierra Nevada. I thought I'd swear off aluminum forever, but I may see if my beer guy can get that stuff, if it's on the market. What's the brewery called?

It's called Southern Star Brewing Company. I assure you that its nothing like Dale's. Alot more caramel malt than either Sierra or Dales. Its nice from the can but do yourself a favor and bust out a glass. It can be found at Spec's or Copperfield liquor stores around the Houston area.

    I really didn't care?

After about 20 of them, they're all the same.

I think the real question is why did God invent blackouts. Personally, I never cared for waking up the day after finding out that I shed all my clothes and peed in the pool.

    Maybe it wasn't me.

    then again...

Eww... really? Man, props for sticking with a Texas based beer, but man... I can't stand Lone Star.

Perhaps it's because that's all I drank throughout high school.

I don't try new beers when I'm out at bars, because if I really grew to like them, then I wouldn't be able to stand your everyday piss water you find at the grocery store, and I'm not going way out of my way and spending four times as much to get to the same level of drunkenness.

I'm drinking a six-month old Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve. This should be in an oppositely-titled thread.

You couldn't find a Lawson's Creek Honey Brown? Preferably that one that sat in the windowsill for a year.

Only have a minute -- gotta keep writing.

Give me Chimay or Guinness Draught.
    Ales and stouts. Mmm...

You can get a six-pack of 8 or 9 percent ABV for less than 12 bucks. So, about twice as much money for twice as much drunkenness.
