Favorite kind of dog? A cat. But, seriously, I love Akitas, Alaskan Huskies, German Shepherds and Pugs. Those are my favorites.
I don't know squat about dogs, but everytime I see german shepherds or doberman's I say "that's a bad ass dog". I thought about getting a dog, but I've got this thing against bringing them into the house.... which pretty much is a pain to the dog I would guess in colder/hotter months.
My friend had a pug for a while, but he takes horrible care of his pets. Already three have been hit by cars because they get out of his yard. In any case, it was the ugliest dog I have ever seen. And it constantly blew boogers on you. I still say Chihuahuas are the best. I have two and neither fit the stereotypical Chihuahua mold. They are both extremely loyal and are devoted to my family like children. The only time they bark is when there is someone at the door or when someone is outside, which is fitting, since Chihuahuas were originally used as sentries.
i have a 100 pound half black lab, half golden retriever. both breeds are great - loyal, friendly, good natured, playful and a big enough bark to scare away potential thieves. the lab side of him likes to chase ducks and the retriever side is obsessed with tennis balls. i was always a cat person, but after i got my dog i saw the light - cats suck!
oh man...its hard to say for sure..I like dogs period. I have a Sheltie which I dig...very intelligent.... kinda like Lassie except smaller here is my current one... I also really like Labs and Golden Retrievers. If I had enough space to keep them..I would have at least 2 or 3 of them.
I absolutely, positively LOVE Border Collies! I have one now and regret not getting one before. I would love to have a Bedlington Terrier to go with my Border Collie...the Bedlington looks just like a lamb, and Border Collies love to herd sheep! Instead, I've got a great little Louisiana Catahoula Leopard...I'd recommend that breed to anyone!
In my experience, Shelties are friendly...but when meeting someone new...they are wary of the visitor rather than their normal friendly selves.. once the dog knows the visitor, they could jump up to put their paws on the visitors leg if you dont train them not to....mine will put his front paws on my leg to get attention only after I indicate he can by patting the side of my leg. Shelties are very trainable...like most intelligent herding dogs...they have to be since they were originally used as sheperd dogs to help keep flocks of livestock under control. very cool dogs....only disadvantage of having one as a house pet is that they have such long hair that can be a pain to keep cleaned up. another pic...
My wife and I are going to get a Cavalier King Charles spaniel sometime soon. We found a great dog at the pet store, but we held off. We want to go to a breeder and do it right. The dog we almost bought: She was absolutely precious, too.
