That might be mine too, kind of sad that it's only like 90 seconds long. That's the song that probably convinced Billy Corgan to pick up the guitar.

i actually saw head east live, back in the day, summer of '75 i think, at the mississippi river festival at SIU. we'd gone to see Blood, Sweat and Tears, and head east warmed up. it was an extremely mellow crowd and despite the band's best efforts to "get yourself up!" and dance, the audience just sat on its collective hands. i, on the other hand, thought they rawked, and looked for their album for about a year. finally found it at peaches in atlanta. what a great store that was in its heyday! when i got to college, i worked for awhile at the peaches in memphis. i always loved the hand painted album covers!
My fave I guess is probably the title track from "The Great Southern Trendkill." Man does it set up the album nicely.
First time I heard that song was during the original teen-rebellion flick Over The Edge. I immediately snuck into my big sisters room, rummaged through her record collection and I've loved Cheap Trick ever since. Not to mention Over The Edge.

Do you know how this song came to be? The album opens with "Hello There," a tune born of countless hapless gigs performed without a sound check. On the road, Cheap Trick would gauge equipment levels for each instrument with this song, as voice, guitar, bass and drums drop in one by one. In that respect, the tune evokes the Sweet's glam-rock classic "Ballroom Blitz" or Sly Stone's "Dance To the Music." In the space of a minute and a half, Zander turns the question "Are you ready to rock?" from an invitation into a demand. http://www.cheaptrick.com/ctalbum2.html

How could i leave out the album that kicked off my obesssion with LPs? Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young: Carry On from Deja Vu ...and then there was the little blonde haired girl who turned me on to it...
We should start a thread on best album closers, because "49 Bye-Byes" off their first LP is as good as it gets.
