Voted Other for Mario Kart, Dr. Mario...or Smash Bros.

But of the ones listed, top 3 would be SMW, SM3, and SM2.

I haven't played Galaxy 1 or 2 yet, so I can't judge them. I played all the other iterations, and I vote for Super Mario World just over Super Mario Brothers 3.

ZOMFG...how could you leave out Super Mario Kart? And no mention yet.

One of the SNES-games I played the most. Dope intro-music and countless hours of me playin vs. my brother and cousins, tryin to achieve Gold in every tournament/cc. Also the racing game I took the most serious, hundreds(maybe thousands) of time laps to be perfect on every stage. Multiplayer was pretty fun too.

Was thinking the same too at first but almost forgot about how great Super Mario Galaxy 2 is on the Wii.

Super Mario World however was my first game so I grew up with it. Might put that just slightly ahead of NSMB. NSMB is exactly what I wish Nintendo made when I was younger playing SMW.

I only played the first 3, 3 being my favorite. My parents got me my SNES because of street fighter. And I basically played that game non-stop and never went back to mario.

Funny this thread pops up. I actually just put SMW and the other Mario games on my PSP the other day.

Think I have to go with Super Mario World. It took everything great about Super Mario 3 and made it better. Plus the feather kicks ass.

But it wins by a hair. Super Mario 64, Super Mario 3 and Galaxy were evolutionary steps for the franchise as well and epic in their own right. But how can you forget Yoshi's Island. Loved that game! The graphics were amazing for it's time.

Galaxy 2 though, definitely underwhelmed and if not a little disappointed in it. Still fun, but not as great as Galaxy. Super Mario 2 I think may be a bit underrated and I couldn't finish Mario RPG cause I'm just not an RPG fan.

I don't know what game you played, but Galaxy was certainly NOT a letdown! First of all, the music was a great mix of orchestrated old remixes and new pieces. It was innovative beyond any platforming game has ever done. There is so much variety in the game that I never felt any repetition in it. Simple put, the game is out of this world.

Never owned a Nintendo system after the NES so my choices are limited to the first 3. So I say . . .

    1. Super Mario Bros. 3
    2. Super Mario Bros.
    3. Super Mario Bros. 2

I really like all the Mario games I've played, but by far Super Mario World and Paper Mario are my favorites.
