Manny: I just can't understand that Dido thing. She only has like one song.

Wow, it took that many posts for someone to name Beck?

    Elvis Costello
    Bob Dylan
    Lyle Lovett
    Lucinda Williams

Honorable Mentions: Prince (too much filler to crack the top 5), Warren Zevon, John Lennon, Sheryl Crow, David Bowie (too many crap albums -- something Dylan has avoided), Jeff Buckley (alas, not a large enough body of work), Johnny Cash (just got into him recently -- he'll probably be in the top 5 soon)

    Jeff Beck
    Gary Moore
    Eric Clapton

if Mayer can write another album like Heavier Things, he will quickly enter this very exclusive list

I know Palm, but you should check out some of her work with her brother's band, Faithless if you are into bands like Massive Attack, Portishead, and Morcheeba. I think she is better when she concentrates on singing electronica type songs than pop songs.

I know Faithless for a long time. They are chartsbound here in Europe and often overplayed. I do not like them that much, they are a bit too techno for me. You may check out:

    Akasha (you will love this)
    Lamb
    Archive
    Goldfrapp (you will love this)

Most if not all of mine are already on their, and I can only make a partial list anyway or it would be too long.

    Hank Williams
    Johnny Cash
    Elvis Costello
    Brian Eno
    Nick Lowe
    David Bowie
    Johnny Thunders
    Jimmy Dale Gilmore
    Robert Earl Keen
    Stevie Wonder
    Sam Cook

That's enough for now. Like I said this a partial list, and in no particular order.
