Mike Meyers That german new wave skit Sprockets always crack me up. "Would you like to pet my monkey..."
Wow...thats tough. I think my favorite was Dan Akroyd. He had such a wide array of characters. The funniest was Chris Farley, his "Van down by the River" skit is my personal favorite. John Belushi ranks at the top as does Phil Hartman
The one constant with SNL is that they will always have a cast member that will turn out to do big things in their future. When Ferrell came on, nobody expected much from him... and his sketches were mainly limited to the cheerleading guy, the roxburry guy, and Alex Trebec. After he took on the role of GWB, that's where his stock really started to rise. Likewise with Sandler, Spade, Farley, Meyers (hell... his 'Simon' sketch was the closest he ever got to being Austin Powers)... they all parlayed SNL fame for real fame (which is the whole point).
I can't vote, I just can't think of one who I enjoy much more than the others. I have too many favorites. Also, Ferrell is still fresh in my mind. Not for the Cheerleader or Trebeck though. I prefer stuff like the Terrence Maddox sketches, Robert Goulet, and the bad Doctor.
Are we talking about the total careers of the SNL players, or just the work they did on the show? If it's the former, I gotta go with Bill Murray. If it's the latter ... not really sure - Belushi, Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin(not sure if he counts as an "official" cast member or not) one of those guys would probly get my pick.
And guys, if you don't see somebody up there don't complain. That's why I stuck that OTHER down there. Just vote it and list your fave.
WILL. There is no doubt about that. the WILL always made everyone crack up and lose character, especially Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz. Sandler, Farley, Ferrell all for 29.99 right now in a 3-DVD pack... I have seen the ESPN commercial... just don't know the number...
Those dip****s did that cracking up all by themselves, usually w/o Ferrell anywhere around. I don't think him being in proximity when they went into one of their giggle fits is any real accomplishment. That being said, Ferrell did some good work on SNL, but I don't really see how the stuff he does translates that well to a big screen, with him carrying a movie for 2 hours. He hasn't done it yet, imo.
