I really thought you were anti-Sampson from past comments, like the trivia question about his autobiography. I think that was the first time we traded posts. I'm serious; I really thought you didn't like him. I'm still skeptical that you may be pulling my leg. I have to remember to scan a picture. I can't believe you really have the "cards". I'm leaving for Boulder for 4-5 days, so I may be delayed. But I have to have a card after seeing them.
1. Hakeem Olajuwon - no doubt about it - - - - - 2. Clyde Drexler - a distant second 3. Charles Barkley - most fun to watch 4. Robert Horry - don't know why but I loved this guy 5. Kenny Smith - see Robert Horry Best 12th man of all time- Scott Brooks a.k.a. "The Energizer Bunny" ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
HP -- Wow, you have a much better memory than I do on posts -- no, for real, I always loved Ralph, I thought he was under-appreciated in Houston. He complained about Fitch, and was called a baby and traded. Hakeem complained about Fitch a year later, and got Fitch fired. Ralph's day in the sun -- besides the shot -- was the All Star game when he won MVP. It showed what he could do with a bona-fide point guard. When John Lucas got nailed for nose candy in '86, it really really hurt Ralph. Bobby joe is in my Top Ten, but could not get Ralph for those alley oops or awkward sky hooks like Lucas. Speaking of nose candy ... For real, i loved Ralph. Still do. Okay, my list is fluctuating again, especially after reading the ESPN page 2 thing. Now Sampson is #4, Vernon is #5. Newlin is a close #6. Here is my list as of lunchtime today: #5 Vernon Maxwell #4 Raheem Sampson #3 Akeem Olajuwon #2 Rudy Tomjanovich #1 Chucky Brown CBFC ------------------ Join the Chucky Brown Fan Club
How about a tie between Eddie Johnson and Charles Jones!!! These guys were class acts and really knew their roles. I met Charles once and he was a smoooth daddy...Eddie always had a shot in his bag (who could forget the Utah shot...) and put out on the court when he was not looking for his AARP card : ) ------------------ "Their Tiger Kung Fu is strong, but our Dragon will defeat them!"
Gotta go with Dream, with Glyde a close second. I still remember Glyde's first breakaway dunk in a Rox uni. Against Charlotte, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm sure someone will. ------------------ Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. No, wait, not me...you.
