Thanks for the props Manny. Did you get my last email? I think I coud literally go on for a year or two at least compiling all my favorite rock songs. Here are a few favorites that I can think of right now: Jimi Hendrix -- Voodoo Chile (slight return) Motley Crue -- Live Wire, Home Sweet Home, Anarchy in the U.K., and ANYTHING from Shout at the Devil. Judas Priest -- Breakin' the Law, Livin' after Midnight Motorhead -- Orgasmatron Sepultura -- Orgasmatron, Refuse/Resist, Territory Black Sabbath -- War Pigs, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Electric Funeral, Snow Blind, NIB, Sweet Leaf, Psycho Man, etc etc etc. Hell, anything by Sabbath during the Ozzy years. OZZY OSBOURNE (OZZY! OZZY!) -- All of 'em. See you on the Other Side is excellent. Flying High Again, Goodbye to Romance, Crazy Train, Ultimate Sin, Bark at the Moon The list goes on and on with him. Ozzy f*cking rules. Metallica -- Through the Never, Harvester of Sorrow, Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Fade to Black, Last Caress/Green Hell, Am I Evil?, etc etc etc. Megadeth -- there's a whole slew of Megadeth songs that I like, but I don't know the names of most of them. Symphony of Dectruction comes to mind, though. Twisted Sister -- We're not Gonna Take It, I Wanna Rock Joan Jett and the Blackhearts -- I Love Rock 'n Roll I had to edit this just to put in: Dio -- Man in the Silver Mountain, and Rainbow in the Dark Jeebus, the list goes on and on.
no fair..rocketman threw in some dmb songs!! i would totally have done that...are they rock?? isn't that funny to even ask?? of course they are, but they don't seem to fit in with the songs being mentioned here.... if they are, then certainly the police and sting (solo) are rock too. if that's the case, i'd go down a long list of those two groups'/artist's songs before i'd get to another group.
MadMaxxie, I just assumed that they would count. I basically put my top 10 regardless of what kind of music. I'm pretty sure Neil Diamond wouldn't be considered "rock". I also wanted to tell you how much I love that you didn't like Memento...you and I are the only ones!!!!!
that's funny..same music and movie tastes!! just divergent political viewpoints...but i'm sure our wives/girlfriends look identical! the thing is, i really wanted to like memento. i was telling my wife all about it and how we needed to rent it. she was taking my word for it and went along...at the end she said she kinda liked it...i thought that "kinda" wasn't good enough for all the hype i'd heard about it. again..the concept of the character was great...i just think the magic of the movie stopped right there.
The way I see it, the movie and music tastes are more important than the political ones. While we may disagree on whether or not abortion should be legal, when will we ever have that question occur in our lives...knock on wood. Meanwhile, we could get together over a couple of beers before the next DMB concert at the Woodlands discussing how all the lovers of Memento were fooled by the unique way the story was told.
The greatest rock and roll song of all time is, without question, "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Of course, I'm trashed, but I'll answer the "question" the same way tomorrow afternoon. It's not even close.
Anything on Foo Fighters' "Nothing Left to Lose" album. That album is pretty awesome with a bunch of songs to bang your head to. Others right now in my head: "Control" Puddle of Mudd "Want u Bad" Offspring "In The End" Linkin Park "What If" Creed "Click Click Boom" Saliva "Your Disease" Saliva
thanks for the top 5 ranking, manny. sorry it's taken me so long to weigh in on a music thread. but I've definitely got my Hot Music Opinions, though. and the first one is that the Greatest Rock Song of All Time hasn't been mentioned yet, and that song is: CULT OF PERSONALITY - living colour rock! here are the rest of my best: sabotage - beastie boys ground on down - ben harper voodoo chile - jimi hendrix killing in the name of - rage against the machine my name is jonas - weezer tired of sex - weezer d'ya know what I mean? - oasis hey man, nice shot - filter alive - pearl jam you oughta know - alanis morrissette baba - alanis morrissette eternal life - jeff buckley grace - jeff buckley angels of the silences - counting crows st. cobain - vernon reid timebomb - old 97s mountain song - jane's addiction bring tha noize - public enemy w. anthrax give it away - red hot chili peppers tomorrow - silverchair sometime - ours our lips are sealed - the gogos rock the casbah - the clash ring of fire - social distortion these songs demand the volume be turned up. and of course, I've forgotten many. a great many "rock"-worthy songs are not included here, but these all stand out to me. with these songs, I never can seem to get the volume up quite loud enough.
