Paul Begala - Always fights his point intelligently, does not take himself too seriously, and admits when he , or someone from his party, made a mistake (unlike most). James Carville - It's usually hard to understand him , but he is passionate about what he believes and is not afraid to say what he thinks. Interesting note for anyone who did not know, he was a Corporal in the Marine Corps ("Corporal Cueball"). Bill Maher - The whole anti religion thing gets a bit old, but he is extremely open minded to all his guests and can agree with both sides on different issues. Jim Hightower - It's great when he you hear people with think southern accents rail on George W. Bush . Gore Vidal - Man's work speaks for itself. Tucker Carlson - Unlike most on the right, he doesnt always agree with George W. , and also (like Begala) doesnt take himself too seriously. Also stands by his positions . Once on Crossfire he told Ann Coulter to shut up and let Paul ask his question. Great moment. Robert Novak - (Before the war) At a republican fundraiser , Bob spoke before a bunch of wealthy donors , talking about how he had reservations about the war and then asked , "How many of your children might be sent to fight?" . He said not one single person raised there hand. Novak may be right of center , but you have to respect people who are not afraid to criticize their own party. Jon Stewart - Makes politics entertaining and always hilarious. Bay Buchanan - I don't agree with her on anything, but stands by her convictions whether its good for her party or not. Commentators that disgust me : Rush Limbaugh , Sean Hannity, Bill O'reilly , Alan Combs (Combes? either way he is pitiful) , Scarborough ( cant remember his first name) , and Ann Coulter (though she is hilarious if she really believes what she says).
i personally like a mix of different characters from both sides of the isle since i am neither republican or democrat. republican-- dennis miller-- earlier in his career he had a more liberal standing on issues. but lately has had a rather conservative view of things.. which i like. since there is good and evil in both parties, mainly the later. bill o'reilly-- i really like this guy.. dont ask me why? he is sort of the the jim rhome of the politcal landscape. At least he knows what he is talking about. not trying to disinform you, like most liberals. although he says he doesnt lean either way.. i'll put him here. democrat-- bill maher-- dont ask me why comedians make great pundits. also i love his view on mar1juana and legalization. jon stewart-once again dont ask.. people i hate-- arianna huffington, hannity&colmes, rajun cajun carville, jesse jackason, reverend al sharpton, and a few others..
Don't think Rush is very funny on his show, but his website is great. I listen to 950 for Glenn Beck (effin' hilarious) and Chris Baker (sometimes).
Alan Keyes Charles Krauthammer Sean Hannity Chris Baker Rush (ditto) - the man so great he's the only political commentator who's known by only one name.
That's the problem, cats. You play right into their hands, both sides of the political spectrum, by watching, getting angry at, or agreeing with cable tv "commentary." There's nothing sadder than having to give your own opinions in between commercial spots. Stewart began his career as a writer for other comics, stand-up guys, so he's smart enough to have people writing his bits for him before he hits any medium. He'd be an idiot not to. One of the funniest men of the post-boomer era, but he knows what he's doing. He got ex. producer credit on the Daily Show. He had Liz Winstead 'asked to leave.' He needs to do himself a favor and take in a few HBO specials or mini-tours during these extended breaks he has on the Daily Show. Political humor ages faster than Cool Ranch Doritos. Just try watching a Daily Show from 1999, a Quayle quip from 1988, some Clinton gag from 1998/99, or anything about Gerry Ford falling down. You're as timely as you'd be making jokes about skirt or lapel length.
So you do, or don't, know who the guy is? Or do you just abandon the "joke" once somebody calls you on it? Also, you don't have to write out tv show or movie titles in capital letters. The Caps Lock button is over on your left. A simple pair of quotation marks will suffice.
