Can't think of their names right now for some odd reason. But I love the Voices of the Astros... Milo (he sucks at telling you what happened though) , Brown, Deshayes, ........ (Brown and Deshayes are the tv guys IIRC)
He's the only worthwhile announcer for HBO boxing. Larry Merchant is an ass, and I just want to kill that annoying sumbitch Harold Lederman.
I don't listen to radio PBP much, but GP definitely gives you a vivid picture of whats going on. I mean every lil movement he describes: "Down into Hakeem on the right block, looks to Maxwell, pump fakes, turning, turning turning, spins back out and kicks it to Kenny at the top of the 3 pt line who looks down to Thorpe ..OT catches it, turns ...OH COME ON REF!!!!!!!!!"
Vancouver Grizzlies announcers: Jay Triano (also coach of team Canada) and Don Poier (R.I.P.) Vancouver Canucks announcer: John Shorthouse
I think Stockton and Hubie Brown are the best play by play/color combo of all time. i cant believe these two are still announcing games their combined age is like 237, hubie must take naps before the games
My favorite of All-Time is Gene Elston, former Colt 45's and Astros announcer. Vin Scully is, by far, the best in the buisness. No other announcer in any sport even comes close. Used to be able to pick up KMOX St. Louis in Houston in the 70's and listened to Jack Buck announce Cardinal games. His son Joe should have gone into another line of work instead of trying to fill those shoes. Also Dan Kelly (St. Louis Blues) was the best Hockey PBP announcer I have ever heard.
You mean Ron Franklin. He used to live in Bayou Bend, right across the golf course from me. Great guy. He does college football on ESPN now.
I think Tom Franklin is correct. He did do Oiler games once upon a time ago. Prior to ESPN didnt Ron Franklin do UT games and before that wasn't he on the air with either channel 11 or 2?
Never heard of a Tom Franklin. Ron Franklin was on ch 11 sports in the 70's and did the Oilers games as well.
Ron Franklin did play by play. Tom Franklin did pre and post game shows. And I forgot about Ron. He's good.
gene peterson.... i would have said milo, but he's declined over the years. i agree with most of your picks too.
college football - craig way (longhorns radio) he is just fantastic, he's not a homer, just great at calling games on the radio which is NOT an easy thing to do.
Wonder if he still talks about 6-man football on his show. There was always something about him that bugged the hell out of me. Keith Moreland, on the other hand, is great. I do like Bill Walton. Mostly just to piss my friends off.
Keith Jackson has the greatest announcer voice in all of sports. Nothing better than him and Dan Fouts doing a college football game on ABC. "Whoaaa Nellie!"
