Do you know about the second contoller trick? If you hold on to the right button, you can fall in a hole with out getting killed, and if you died in a hole, you become invincible i think.
Ok Quiz, Who here still remembers where the secret extra life mushroom is on Super Mario Bros. 1 Level 1.1?
I don't know if anyone ever figured this out as I did, but on Double Dribble there were certain spots on the court from which you could always get an automatic 3, regardless of your team. I even marked them on my TV screen with crayon! My all-time favorite has to be Super Dodgeball (good taste, Ollie!). One highly underrated game was Wrecking Crew, especially being able to customize your own levels. I also loved Super Mario 2 because it was the first of its type that had no score calculation whatsoever (plus the coolness of digging up vegetables to throw at people, the differentiation between the characters, Luigi with his mad hops and Princess with her floating). And the final boss, Wart, was a nice change of pace from Bowser. I probably wasted more time than I care to admit on Kid Icarus, Zelda, Mike Tyson's Punchout, the Mega Man series (#3 was my favorite), Ice Hockey, Pro Wrestling, and a score of other games. Ah, the nostalgia! Too bad most or all of the NES (NESticle) ROM sites have been either shut down or plagued by an infinite loop of pop-up ads that will drive you to distraction before you ever get to downloading a single game.
isn't it right after that pipe you come back up of before the first hop over "mini-deathfall gap"????
I am so glad you guys mentioned Gyromite! I've wondering what the name of that damn game was for the past five years. I'd describe it to people and they'd just look at me like I was crazy. I love this bbs! All the time. That game had a very simple code for unlimited lives. After you died, push A B B A and, voila! You're back. My friend and I spent many a late night before finally beating that one.
Man there was this game where the main character sees a frog and falls into a hole. I think it's masterbrain. Anyone have an idea of what game I am talking about. You go around shooting stuff in robot thingy and can get out of it.
What is a good emulator with lots of good games. What is one I can download and play offline? I downloaded NESticle or some ****, and it had a virus in it. That pissed me off. I would look off a file sharing software, but I don't want to go through that hassle again. Hook me up my brothers.
Get a news reader like Forte Agent or even use Outlook/Outlook Express and set up newsgroups. Subscribe to alt.binaries.nintendo.emulation. You can find pretty much any rom you want if you hang around awhile. The regs there can be real a-holes, so I'd suggest just lurking until you find what you want. If you are going to participate in the NG, read the FAQ first.
NESticle is the best. You just have to find it without the virus. pe2000.net used to be the absolute best emulator/rom site, but it looks like thaey may have been shut down.
Hey Astro, between knowing every secret there is for video games, spending those late nights playing those games, and your 1300 posts here, I am beginning to wonder how you made it to college.
As a few people mentioned above, river city ransom was the best game. Addicting as hell, 2 people could play at the same time. What the #$%##$ happened to games like that I loved those! Also Dragon Warrior 3 and Final Fantasy were great I could lose myself for hours playing those. Double Dragon 2 was a blast also. I have a ps2 and I just can't find good games anymore. What happened to the side scrollers where you and your buddy could dive into combat together! Am I the only one who misses those??
You b*stard. You just can't take that I'm a very knowledgable person and you aren't. Btw, when the hell does the fall semester start? I can't find it anywhere on SIN.
