Adding Denzel Washington's "Hard Lessons" which was filmed at Austin High School. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091106/
Rushmore was decent, but for me, it's a toss-up between RoboCop 2, and Arlington Road. On a side note, is anyone else REALLY, REALLY bothered by this new TBS garbage "Neighbors from Hell"? One of the promos actually says something along the lines of "welcome to a place where pain and suffering know no bounds, and the depths of hell are experienced.....welcome to HOUSTON, TEXAS!" Gimme a freaking break. What a travesty that our city is represented in such a negative light.
Guess the link is making my thread title misleading considering that they are listing movies that may show clips of Houston, such as Arlington Road showing the Houston city skyline but technically not filmed here. Oh well.
glad_ken are you aka as Blindkilla? Snippet: There are not many movies that I have an attachment to, but this is one of them. Why do I say this? Well they actually filmed part of it in my home town when I was a teenager, and I got to see them shooting parts of it in front of my local police station. I thought that was cool as hell at the time since I was about to go into Radio Television and Filmaking at Sam Houston State University (sorry about the shameless plug there). So the scenes you see shot outside the station are of my home town Humble and others were of Houston and Galvaston Texas. http://www.hvelite.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=192&Itemid=50
I remember a scene in rushmore was filmed in my high school gym. North Shore high school. Never seen it
Scenes in Rushmore where the kid goes to public high school was filmed in my high school, M.B. Lamar high, right across from St. Johns. My old English teacher said some of his students were in that movie as extras. I think they filmed during the summer, so maybe it was the kids who failed and had to take summer school. Also the gym scene from Sidekick was filmed at my high school gym as well. Anyways, neither films were relevant and didn't make any noise in the box office, I think.
My guess is they shot that in 90? Then we were probably in the RTF dept around the same time - I was there 91-95..but hung out in Huntsville working at EVN until 98.
Back in middle school, this new kid said he had moved into the house where they filmed this. In Pearland. I don't why he would make up something like that, but who knows.
