Who were those people that were knocking Altezza lights, calling them Rice, and ****? I saw that, I didn't want to say anything, but man, that was stupid. Let me see, if you want some clear lights on your car, it is some kind of Rice or something? What the **** is that?
I got a Lincoln Navigator and it hardly qualifies as a Luxury car. Mercedes Benz is personally my favorite luxury line of cars, and BMW a very close second. The reason I went with the Navigator is because the weather here in Houston changes so much, and when it rains hard and I have to go all the way from Cinco Ranch to U of H some areas are flooded and I need a car that's high enough for high waters.
I have a hard time excepting the term Japanese Luxury car. It sounds like an oxymoron. It just doesn’t sound or look right. When I think luxury I think European. Oh my vote is the Benzo b/c of their history & mystique.
I have to agree, I don't like the lower end of Mercedes, but at the higher end.....DAYUM! I do love the look of the new Cadilacs though. But, man. It's hard. You always seem something nicer. Audi, Mercedes, BMW...they all have some Sweet rides. My jaw drops when BMW's pass me in the middle east......
yeah I said infiniti because kind of loyal to that company.. my dad got over 300k miles out of the (nissan) truck he drove to work .. if money is no object though I guess i'd have to get one of those near 200k mercedes... I'm not sure the other companies make something to compete with the very high end mercedes.. but since money will always be a little issue I'm sure lol.. I'll keep with my original vote
[trollish post] i don't understand spending this kind of money on a car. i just can't do it. the moment i sign the bottom line, the thing depreciates. a car is a car is a car...as long as it serves whatever purpose you need. for me, that's getting to work...getting to ballgames...getting home..etc. $50K to do that?? no thanks. i can just think of a ton of different things i'd rather do wtih my money. [/trollish post]
madmax.. I agree.. I don't know that i'd ever get one of the higher priced luxury vehicles.. even if I had millions I can't see myself spending 120k or whatever on a car..
My wife works in downtown Houston, and it takes her an average of about an hour each way for her commute. Assuming eight hours of sleep, she's spending about an eighth of her time in her vehicle. This is her reasoning for wanting to drive a nice vehicle, and as the saying goes, "if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Truly, it's important that she is happy, so I have no problem with the 50K we spent on her GX470. I understand the "it only needs to get me from point A to point B crowd," but some people truly get that much enjoyment out of their vehicles--enough enjoyment to warrant spending the extra money. To each his own.....
absolutely...to each his own. it's just not my cup of tea. i too have dealt with the commute..i live out west on I-10 and commute downtown to the courts a good deal, as well...all i need is a radio/cd player, air conditioning and reliability. i find a mazda or toyota or even my jeep liberty can get that job done and keep from spending the extra $30K on a luxury vehicle. just my two cents. as you said...to each his own. its your money...not mine! unless of course you'd like to write me a check.
Lexus. When I bought mine five years ago, I test drove all sorts of cars...BWM, Benz, Infinity, Acura. The Lexus felt the best to me. I guess I was right...the biggest breakdown I have ever had with the car is a flat tire. Also....avoid Jaguar at all costs. Two months ago, on a Saturday afternoon, I was driving down Holcombe to shop at the Rice Epicurean at Holcombe and Kirby. Two blocks away, traffic all of a sudden came to a standstill. As I got closer, I saw what it was all about. An elderly couple was standing in the median next to their brand new Jaguar (still had dealer plates on it.) The entire undercarraige of the car had come loose at the front of the car. It was still connected at the rear end of the car, and was hanging at a 45 degree angle and scraping along the concrete.
That's funny. One of my neighbors' Jaguar was spewing out all kinds of strage exhaust fumes, while I was walking to the workout room in my apartment complex. But, in general, Jags have gotten much better ever since Ford took over. But still, they're way behind the likes of BMW, Benz, Audi, Saab and Volvo. Incidentally the worst rated car manufacturer in the world is Land Rover.
