Here is most of Jimi's Woodstock performance (57 minutes long) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3981364972665945187&q=jimi+hendrix&hl=en ENJOY!!!!
I saw the Doors concert. They had the stage in the middle of the floor, for some reason, but played in one direction (like cutting the size of the place by about half) Had great seats again, and the Moving Sidewalks opened, doing a killer set. (they morphed into ZZ Top) You could tell it pumped up the Doors a bit, because they came out, no pun intended, on fire. Jim had on his trademark leather pants, with either a sock in it, or pure Morrison bulging there, lol! The Experience played the Coliseum 3 times, I think. On one occasion, Fat Mattress was an opening act. That may have been the last Experience concert before Band of Gypsies.
Man were you on an acid trip or something? It would've been O.K. if your hand shook so bad you couldn't light her cigarette. After all lack of fire is not something the devil has a problem with. What's really weird is that you both claim she looked the same.
Career: Guitarist Billy Gibbons met his future manager, Waxahachie native Bill Mack Ham, backstage at a Doors concert in Houston in 1967. Gibbons' band at the time, the Moving Sidewalks, had a local hit with the song "99th Floor." They soon opened on the Doors' Texas tour. After later opening for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Hendrix named Gibbons his favorite guitar player during an appearance on "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson." The Sidewalks broke up and Gibbons and Ham contracted to form a new band. http://www.famoustexans.com/zztop.htm I used to drop 3 orange barrells at a time and I never made it to devil Mom.
It was '67? Thanks! That computes. Uh, I really couldn't say. That's what we thought. I'm not making it up, either. When we talk about those old days, it still comes up in conversation, usually when we're talking about his mother, who was a classy lady, and more than a bit wild for the day.
I saw that one, as well. Remember at the end of the concert, Morrison got down in front of the stage and invited people to come up? Then the cops got up there is a hurry and led him off.
Here is The Doors entire concert from the Hollywood Bowl July 5th 1968 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6492867866699204852&q=the+doors&hl=en I realize most of you old guys don't have a fast connection, but damn, you are missing out on some awesome memories
No way Moe, I would never insult you. I love you and Dubious posting about the old days. I wish you guys posted more about those days. I am just jealous I am not a few years older so I could have stories about seeing Hendrix and Morrison in concert.
Amazing, I just posted in the "What are you listening to?" thread, that I just picked up The Doors s/t album today.
The cops tended to get a bit out of control there, for some reason. Didn't some people end up crawling under the stage that night? I remember a mini-riot, if there is such a thing, when the power was cut off of an Airplane concert at the Coliseum. I ended up taking home one of those triangular ends of a barricade. Good times! Did you go to any of the demonstrations at the front of the Music Hall, and the Coliseum, when they raised ticket prices a dollar across the board? I think the top ticket price went up to $6 bucks. My girlfriend and I managed to sneak into the Music Hall for the Spirit concert, due to the chaos. The opening act was a group no one had ever heard of, the Doobie Brothers.
