I like many of the "standard" guys mentioned as well:

    Randy Rhoads
    SRV
    Alex Lifeson
    et al

But in the last few years, I've developed a taste for some other kinds of players as well:

    Jerry Donahue
    Will Ray
    John Jorgenson
The guys from the LA Guitar Quarter (I think there are four of them :) )
Esteban (Sorry, I can't help myself)
David Qualey (http://www.david-qualey.de/ - Actually, I've been a fan of his for more than the past few years, but he's certainly not one of the standards.)

However Steve Vai is one of my favorites along with Eddie Van Halen, Alex Lifeson, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. OH, and you can't leave out Jimi. Also, while not one of my favorites, but highly under rated is Prince.

Just curious why there is so little love Eddie Van Halen. I know most of you can't stand the post Dave era for the group, but why don't you like Eddie? Is it just the whole fingerboard thing?

    Eric Clapton (for overall achievement)
    Jimi Hendrix (ground-breaking licks)
Stevie Ray Vaughan (not sure he belongs-great soul, but almost all borrowed licks)
Robert Fripp (avant-garde creativity and timing)
Joe Satriani (great composition and tone)
    Leo Kottke (excellent fingerstyle)
    Stanley Jordan (great two-handed player)
    Eric Johnson (great tone)
Carlos Santana (great tone and variety)
    Tuck Andress (two-handed achievement)
Frank Zappa (creativity, but bolstered by songs I like)
    Yngwie Malmsteen (technical excellence)

This thread certainly gives a sense of the age range and musical taste of Clutchfans. From this I'm guessing most posters are white males, in their 30's who are primarily Rock (metal fans)

It also seems like there aren't any obviously Asian Clutchfans here?

Anyway here's my picks in no particular order.

    Carlos Santana

Willie Nelson (I can't believe on a Houston based site no one has named him, or Billy Gibbons or Eric Johnson yet.)

    Andre Segovia

    Roy Clark

    Pete Townshend

Albert Collins (The Master of the Telecaster)

    Albert King

    Les Paul

    Compay Segundo

    Dickie Betts

Bela Fleck (Though he might be more banjo than guitar)

    Ricky Skaggs

Theres too many others out there I admire but I can't forget:

    BB King
