Ooh, looking over these lists reminds me of some others that I need to include on my honorable mention list: Jack White Kevin Shields Bernard Sumner Robert Fripp Jeff Buckley Chris Stein Nick Drake Adam Jones Billy Howerdel
manny: nick drake - great call I just got into his music two months ago. what wonderful music this men made.
Jimmie Vaughan Albert King Hubert Sumlin Billy Bremner Mike Bloomfield Honorable Mention: Little Ray Ybarra Hollywood Fats Duke Robillard Chuck Berry
Besides the obvious ones like Hendrix, Van Halen, Clampton, Page etc. Randy Rhodes Hillel Slovak Andy Summers Rivers Cuomo Johnny Greenwood Billy Corgan
Most of his popular songs that you hear the radio dont have anywhere near his best guitar work in them. Check out some of his live stuff like 24 nights. The solo in Old Love is geat as or many others on the 2nd disc.
Here is a good place to start with Clapton. Cream: Those Were the Days Wheels of Fire Disraeli Gears Blind Faith Self titled: Blind Faith solo, self titled: Eric Clapton Slowhand
If you can get ahold of that old double album "History of Eric Clapton", that's a real good one...all of his best Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, and early solo stuff.
Title says favorite, not best, so I gotta go with: Dave Matthews Tim Reynolds Tom Morello Jimi Hendrix
1) Conrad Keeley from ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead 2) Jimi "God" Hendrix 3) Johnny Greenwood (I must add that a lot of lines that people think are played by Johnny are played by the other guy, Ed. Just giving credit where it's due.) 4) Tom Morello 5) Stephen Carpenter
Perhaps, but Johnny looks cooler when he plays. Head down, bangs covering his eyes...he just looks cooler.
Wes Montgomery is the creme-ala-creme, but there are plenty I can think of that merit amongst the greatest on the instrument. B.B. King, Robert Johnson, Jerry Reed, Blind Willie McTell, Son House, Jimi Hendrix, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Steve "the Colonel" Cropper, Chet Atkins, Dick Dale and countless others. I'll have to page through my CD collection to get a more complete list.
