..........And Alton Brown is the man; he is a total food geek.........This generation's Jeff Smith (hopefully, Alton doesn't like the underage boys). But his recipes are just so-so. If you want GREAT recipes (but so-so TV personality), pick up some of Ina Garten's cookbooks.
BAM!! that guy is my fav chef. My fav cooking show (altho not necessarily a cooking show) is Top Chef on Bravo. I love that show! Makes me wanna be a cook! but then what's my wife gonna do?
5,4,3,2.....1 until some Internet dork pops up and says she isn't hot insinuating he can do better from behind his keyboard.
Every day Italian and Good Eats are the best shows on food network. Molto Mario was good. My favorite show i think is on BBC. Ramsey's Kitchen Dissasters And old school for good recipes is the show that used to come on PBS, Great Chefs
Top Chef is mine. Good eats I liked for a little while....and then the guy just got a leeeeetle too weird for me. He just started to annoy me.
the original iron chef rules - it loses alot of the kitch factor in the american version. cant believe that show w/ andrew zimmerman hasnt been mentioned - where he travels the world eating the weirdest stuff possible - i love it! watching him eat some of the stuff he does is truly nastier than even 2 girls 1 cup. that guy is a freak! no matter what it is, his reaction is almost always the same..."oh, this is excellent!". ive only see him really not like something twice. if you live in austin you must check out "cookin' good with the cola sisters" on channel 10 or 16 - usually on tuesday nite at 10. its these two bouffant southern chicks named arcie and shasta cola - wearing skimpy outfits and cookin' up all kinds of homestyle stuff, all the while drinkin' and talkin' about a variety of subjects, from ufo's, the jfk assasination to who the best batman is/was. the cameraman often pans in for these very inappropriate up-close shots on crotches or cleavage.
I'm not sure I like Alton Brown's recipes either, but I've learned A LOT of tips on how to cook from his show.
I get offended watching that show because the two things he is scared of - Balut(duck fetus in the egg) and Durian(the "stinking" fruit) are things that I actually eat willingly. Here's this guy sucking on live worms and bile and the things I eat are too disgusting for him. Almost surreal.
Good Eats Feasting on Asphalt Iron Chef (original) Iron Chef America Essence of Emeril (NOT Emeril Live) 30 Minute Meals
Well, when I was in Vietnam I ate a fair amount of mice, so I would say that the mice wine wouldn't bother me too much. In fact, I'd eat the sheep's head too, so I'd eat the top 3 but wouldn't touch #4-6.
In order: No Reservations Top Chef Anything w/ Giada Bizarre Foods w/ Andrew Zimmerman Good Eats I also miss the original Iron Chef. The American version just doesn't translate the original vibe well.
