Voodoo Pope took my number 1 with

    Father Christmas by the Kinks.

I would like to add RUN DMC's Hollis Queens christmas song onto the list.

I should add my support to the Fairytale in New York group too.

Do They Know it's Christmas is also a good one.

The best pop christmas song is "This Christmas" by Donny Hathaway. Even though I'm a big scrooge this song makes me somewhat happy during this awful holiday they call christmas.
The River by Joni Mitchell is about as depressing as it gets and I play it alot on christmas eve.
The Mackenzie Brothers 12 days of Christmas is probably the best of all X-mas parodies.

I am a certifiable Christmas music geek! I probably have over 50 CDs. Here are a few of my favs!

A perfect martini-and-mistletoe combo, Christmas Cocktails will gaily seduce you with its bevy of nostalgic and occasionally campy holiday fare. It's a scream. The package comes complete with its own cocktail minimanual and the recipes for Hot Toddys and Hot Tom and Jerrys. Garishly retro and naughtily nostalgic, this kind of slinky Christmas gift should probably be illegal in many prudish states.

This also has a follow up CD “Christmas Cocktails part II” that is just as good!

This cheerful holiday album features mandolin master David Grisman and guests like Bela Fleck, Mike Marshall, Rob Wasserman, Martin Taylor, and more performing spirited holiday favorites!

I’ve posted this before and can’t get enough of this reworking of the great Guaraldi CD!

    "Holy Sh*t, It's Christmas!" - Red Peters
"Santa Claus Is Coming....and Not Necessarily To Town" - NWH

Ok, the last one isn't a real song. Props to you if you know what it's from.

The reason I asked 20 years ago is because she is a horrible singer and that is a horrible song.

Since you have a huge amount of influence here, is this going to be the Official 2024 Christmas Music thread or is this just going to be a warmup?

Doesn't the bbs already have about 17 Christmas music threads?

Thank you for the undeserved compliment about my influence, though

Perhaps - probably so on 17 (or more) Christmas Music threads.

...but if the decision is made to push This Thread as the Christmas Music thread, then it needs to be kept on the first page to discourage somebody from creating a new thread specific for Christmas 2024.

Adding a new post as needed to keep it on the first page is no problem if that is the direction that is taken.
