When I was at boarding school and everyone else was getting care packages, I would ask my mom to get me Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese Doritos. The woman could not bring herself to spend that kind of money or pass up a discount, and I always got some crappy off brand. Then at some point my favorite were the Chili Cheese Fritos, now anytime I'm on a road trip or pulling an all nighter at work it's Cheetos.
Whatever floats your boat, cap'n. Seems like an odd choice coming from someone who goes on and on about having refined taste in food, though.
(Hint: MSG can make a turd addictive and appetizing, so Julio's chips aren't really any great shakes)
Jans Maxi Mixed Roots. The only chips where a bag will be gone in one sitting, like a meal, & I CAN stop at just one Lays. Just can't find them anywhere lately. Not for nutrition reasons either (don't even know if they're healthy)- eg I love those peanut oil fried zapps someone posted, these just happen to taste amazing, completely different. junkfoodguy.com There was something magical about those blue canisters of puffs. Do they still come that way? I don't count chips if including salsa, but if it's fresh & spicy & not too chunky, there is a type of tortilla chip my store used to carry that was amazing. I can't remember the brand name, but "totopos" was the type of chip or something. They were amazing, I cant even put my finger on why. Not especially thin or thick. Just wish I could find those again too.
I went to my local whole foods in LA and they were stocked full with this item. Nonetheless, I had to give this a try. I'm sorry but to me no way these are the best chips ever. They taste just like any regular blue corn chip product. So disappointed! Thanks for sharing though.
Original Ruffles too. Not a fan of the dust covered/flavored chips at all, save for these. Big fan of the Hot/Spicy Pork Skins especially while having beers and watching college football.
